Don't worry....it will come. I took provera and it took 12 days after the last pill. I decided to call my dr to schedule and appt on the 11th day and the next morning AF came
Dear jennphilg-
It is very unlikely that you have early menopause. Most of the time, the lack of periods, and the failure to have bleeding from provera, indicate that your estrogen levels are low. This can be due to many factors, including weight loss, low body mass index with less body fat than is required, stress. Sometimes, lack of periods can also be due to the opposite - being overweight, having some excess male hormone. Finally, if you had any problems after delivering your baby the lack of periods could be due to scarring in the uterus, although this is not common.
Since it has been four months, I would recommend that you be evaluated by your doctor and that some blood tests be done. These would include FSH (if this level is low, it will confirm that you are not in menopause), progesterone (to see if you have ovulated spontaneously in the past few days), prolactin, TSH, estradiol, and beta-HCG (to check again to see if you are pregnant). If you have some excessive hair growth, also consider having lab testing for testosterone, free testosterone, DHEA-S. All of these are hormone tests.
Between an exam, and ultrasound, and the blood tests it is possible to figure out why you have not had regular periods, and it is possible to determine if you need fertility drugs to start ovulating again.
If your regular MD does not feel 100% comfortable looking after women who are trying to get pregnant but not ovulating regularly, then you should ask to see an infertility specialist/reproductive endocrinologist.
Chances of early menopause are probably less than 1/1000.
Good luck!
