21-Day Progesterone Result

I just received the results of my 21-Day progesterone which was 5.8 after taking Clomid 50mg cycle day 5-9.  Last month I did the same and my progesterone was 14.8.  Does this mean I did not ovulate and there is no chance of being pregnant?  Can progesterone levels vary from month to month when taking Clomid?

Hi!
With that level, it is likely that you did ovulate, and there is a possibility of pregnancy.
Some doctors would recommend increasing your Clomid dose, I personally might consider switching you to Femara.  If you were my patient, I would definitely supplement progesterone if you do conceive this cycle. Oh, and, yes progesterone definitely can and will vary from month to month.  If there is any question about whether you are ovulating, I would suggest ultrasound for follicle studies to a patient of my own.

Good luck!

Dr. B,
Thank you for your response.  That does put my mind at ease however I had a neg UPT this morning.  I am on cycle day 25 and used an Early First Response(the new "test 6 days before your missed period") HPT.  Also, this is the first month I have had no premenstural spotting (I have always had this), which gave me more hope.  I just began charting my BBT and my temp has been high for 6 days.  Could all this mean my cycle will just be longer this month and I ovulated late?
My OB said she will only offer me one more month of Clomid she then will refer me out.  I will research Femara and speak with my OB.

Thank you.

You know I just came from the doc. He said that you are ovulating once it passes 4, but he would prefer it to be above 9. My results showed that it is 24, he said that it is normal, but at what point does it surpass normal?
