Cessation of menstrual period

I used birth control pills for a year of which i had a regular cycle. I stopped using the pills after i got married and my cycle became very irregular. Since then, i've been unable to conceive. Any time my menstrual cycle becomes regular and i have sexual intercourse with my husband, menses  ceases for months until i take some drugs that would be prescribed by the doctor. Few months ago, precisely in May, i went to a fertility hospital where, after i did a hormone profile, i was given 'fertilaid' to take for three months and then go back to hospital if conception doesn't take place. But in order to make sure i was perfectly okay, i proceeded to a national hospital where i could conduct thorough test since they have alot of equipments. Suprisingly, one of the doctors totally disapproved the 'fertilaid' and prescribed 'glucophage' with the explanation that i have fake ovulation. I saw my menses for one month(july) and since then till now, my menses has ceased with so much weight gain. Pls help me out. Thank you.

Hi!
Weight gain is definitely not helping you to conceive!  Often the Glucophage helps people to lose weight--too bad it didn't have that effect for you!  If you were my patient, in addition to recommending diet exercise and weight loss, I would prescribe Clomid or Femara.  These medications in addition to the Glucophage might help you to ovulate and conceive.
It definitely sounds like you have PCOS, and there is a good chance that you will eventually conceive, but taking Clomid or Femara would definitely speed up the process for you.
Good luck!
Dr B

In addition to my observation, i sometimes feel sick and nauseous. I feel hungry most of the time that i will feel as if i've not eaten in days. Is it normal to have all these symptoms while using the drugs(glucophage)?. Pls i earnestly await ur reply. Thank you.

Hi Dr B. I've been taking glucophage since our last communication. Since the past few days, i've had very tender breasts and painful nipples. Pls what does it mean and what should i expect? Should i still add d clomid to the glucophage? I've also notice gradual weight loss though not much. Thank you so much.
