Femara 2.5 mg

Hello Doctor,

My RE has just put me on Femara this month. I fixed the appointment today the 12th of June (cd 4) and he told me to take 2 tablets a day for five days and then intercourse every two days after that. I've had no luck past month with merional injection and choriomon(hcg trigger). I have had a hysterosalpiogram and my tubes were fine, have regular ovualtion and every month I produce around 10 follicles on one side and eight on the other.I have had various ultrasounds and I have regular uterus lining, no cysts, and hormone levels(he's only taken the TSH and Prolactine) are on average range. I'm wondering two things;I've been ttc for 10 mths now (I'm 38) and nothing-why do I not get pregnant and why is he putting me on Femara? Are there contraindications using Femara even if you do regularly ovulate? How useful is it?Thank you so much....

Hi. I've heard GREAT things about Femara. I'm a believer in supplementing traditional medicine with natural therapies as well. This cycle I started doing a self fertility massage, and it is said to help with many things including unexplained fertility. I got a DVD on Amazon for 30 bucks, but you can also have a massage therapist teach you the techniques. (the DVD is cheaper, plus in your own home) as far as results I've noticed. This cycle I've had 7 days of fertile CM, in previous cycles I was lucky to have 1 day. I got my first ever +OPK, felt ovulation pains, ovulated a day earlier than normal (my cycles are a bit long, but not too bad) plus I have been more 'aware" of my reproductive organs. It's hard to describe, I was a bit skeptical at first, but after 1 massage I was sold. I'm very impressed with the changes I've seen so far. It is a natural but powerful therapy. Mssg me if you want more info. Good luck!

Hi!
I must admit that Femara is one of my favorite fertility medications.  I'm sure that if you look at the package insert, there are numerous reported side effects and warnings, and you should probably take a look to see if any of these apply to you.
To be brutally honest, your age is probably what is stopping you from conceiving quickly, but from the sounds of your studies, you have a good chance of conceiving if you keep trying.
If you are ovulating regularly, you technically don't need fertility medications of any kind, and it would not be "wrong" to try natural cycles without medications.
Femara plus or minus IUI would be likely to help speed up the process though, and worth a try.
Good luck!
