Gonal-F and IUI

I took Femara CD 3 - 7 and Gonal-F starting on CD 7 until today, CD13.  I went in for an ultrasound today and was told that my lining is 10, and I have 3 follicles.  1 at 15.5 and 2 at 14.5.  This is my first med cycle.  I got pregnant in August spontaneously and had a m/c at 6 weeks.  "normally" without meds I ovulate on day 14.

At this point they would like me to continue to take the Gonal-F for 3 more days to get the follicles to 17 before the IUI procedure.   My next ultrasound will be Saturday (CD16).   I'm worried I will be past ovulation.

Does taking the Gonal-F help stave off ovulation?    I also have Ovidrel, but have not been advised to take it yet.  I know that takes 36 hours, so with all things considered, will I be way past my Ovulation, or is being medicated changing the scenario?

Thank you so much

Hi!
The medication should be stimulating the follicles to continue to grow. The ovidrel will mimic the LH surge (which is the surge that is detected on ovulation predictors) and should cause the follicles to mature and rupture.  And, you are correct, that should take about 36 hours and the IUI should be timed around that.
There are cases in which ovulation does occur prematurely.  It is unfortunate when it does happen because the follicles are not mature and don't fertilize well.  If it does happen it will be noticeable on your next scan, and your meds may need to be adjusted for your next cycle.  I hope all goes well and you have success!
Good luck!
