Slightly raised prolactin level.

Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. I am 32 and have been TTC for 6 years. I have severe endo and very irregular and painful afs ( 28-50 days). I have used OPKs and the clearblue fertility monitor and never seem to get positive on OPK or 3 bars on the monitor to show i ov. With the monitor i have been testing everyday from day 6 to day 26 and only seem to get 2 bars. We have also had 2 failed ICSI cycles. I have read that high prolactin can affect fertility. My prolactin has been measured on a few occasions, 1230, 986, and 695. The GP says this is down to stress but can this have an impact on my cycles and perhaps my treatments being unsuccessful.

Sorry if that is a bit long winded. Thanks

Thank you so much for this information. My doctor has never investigated this further as he feels it is not a problem. I keep getting told my levels are elevated due to stress.
I think i will make an appointment to discuss this further or even speak to my ivf consultant at my upcoming review.
I appreciate you answering my question.

Hi!
I hope your doctor has also ordered an MRI for you to evaluate your pituitary gland!
If you were my patient, that is the first test I would do (after repeating the prolactin level).
Prolactin level should be done in the morning after an overnight fast.  There should be no breast stimulation prior to the test.
Then, if your prolactin remains elevated, I would definitely treat!  Dostinex and Parlodel are both good medications for hyperprolactinemia.  Treating your condition and lowering your prolactin level might very well regulate your cycles and help you conceive.
You should probably see a reproductive endocrinologist to help you with this!
Good luck!
