Hi!
If your left tube is open, that's all you need.  A tube can pick up an egg from either ovary.
If you have records that the cyst has been there and has been stable for eight years, I would suspect that many doctors would agree to start clomid.  Others might recommend a tuboplasty/cystectomy ( removal of the cyst and repair of the blocked tube) first.  A very good reproductive endocrinologist might be able to do that procedure laparoscopically (with tiny incisions and  a "tv" camera) with minimal down time or potential for scarring for you.  Also, if your tube is blocked due to endometriosis, there is some data to suggest that removing the majority of the endometriosis helps pregnancy rates.

Gather all your records together, and find a good doctor that you can work with.  Go for it!
Good luck!

thank you very much for your reply, it was very helpful.  Yes it has been stable and sometimes I worry if it burst would it cause me harm!!  Is it normal to have a cyst that long?  hope I can find a good doctor as they are hard to find over here! The doc I have now does not listen and does not explain things to me and it annoys me.  My GP is great but is limited in the things he can do for me.  Again thanks for your reply.
