pregnancy symptoms after transfer

I am 9 days post-transfer via a donor cycle with a 5 day embryo transfer.  Only one embryo was transferred and I don't think I feel any real pregnancy symptoms.  Should I already be feeling any of these?  The only ones I really have are sore breasts and some fatigue.

Too early for pregnancy symptoms. As I am returning your question on August 28, the question is, what was your beta-HCG?

The ONLY symptoms I had were ... sore breasts, a bit of fatigue (not an unusual amount though), and off-and-on cramps as if my period were coming. The cramping wouldn't last long, and it wasn't bad enough to take a tylenol. It made me worry more than it hurt, if you know what I mean. The 2 week wait is hell. But, I did my first IVF cycle this month with ET on 8/7. On 8/17 I got a positive blood test! I went back 4 days later and my levels had more than quadrupled, which is what they wanted. My ultrasound is 9/7 ... we transfered 2 embryos, so we might have twins. I know it is SO HARD, but just try not to stress!! Focus only on being pregnant, not the "what-ifs." I kept saying ... thank you God, I am pregnant. Thank you for giving me what I wanted for so long. Thank you for letting this work this time!!! Reading (actually listening to CD) of the book "The Secret" really helped me!

Keep me posted & take care.

This is my second IVF. The first time I had two 8 cell embryos transferred on Day 3, with a lot of fragmentation (it didn't work). This time I had a 10 cell and 6 cell (Grade B and B-) transferred on Day 3. I was a little upset that it was a 3 day transfer, I feel day 5 transfers has better results. My transfer was on 8/18, and I freaked out 2 nights ago, because I can't wait til 8/22 for my PT. But I read "THE SECRET" and it brought me back to reality, and I felt much better. But, today I feel alot of cramping like I'm getting my period. I keep going to check, because it feels like it's coming. Did anyone feel a hard stomach right below the belly button?. Cause I was and I'm not anymore, and I feel I lost them. My breast are swollen but that's a  side effect from meds (I think). I'm just so scared of the day I get my PT test and the Dr. calls. I want him to say Congrats SOOOOO BAD. What if he doesn't.

Yeah, a close friend made me a visualization board from the book although I haven't read it yet.  I should've been more clear that my test is tomorrow; however, I cheated (i can't believe I did this) and took a digital hpt and it was pos; however, want to stay realistic.  I hope it works out for all of us.  I want to post when I have the "official" results especially for all of us who've been on this road for a while. Keep up the hope kangela! and ajc I hope that u/s turns out to be twins!  I think twins are really cool.

A positive HPT close to the time of your blood test is a good sign.

I did get a "tightness" in my very lower abdomen about 2 days before my blood test. Other than that I was bloated and that has not changed. Can't suck in my belly fat to save my life. I meant to get rid of that before I got pregnant ... Oops!! :)

Try not to worry guys ... You bring about what you think about. I truly believe that ... not only in this situation, but all situations. If you worry ... you will get what you are worrying about. Just know that you are pregnant. It can't hurt you to believe.

I didn't have a neg. test, so I can't answer what you will do if you don't get the results you want. I imagine that you will cry and feel angry, which are normal responses. I will be here for you if you need to talk. If you want my e-mail address, just let me know. You will be okay, regardless!!!

I'm officially knocked up!  That's not a nice way to put it, but there it is.  You were right - the hpt was reliable in my case since I didn't get the HCG shot (donor cycle).  Thanks for your words, ajc, ya kept me believin'.  Now to navigate across another minefield.......

Ya know, I've read a bunch of your posts as I was trying to divert myself from all of the anxiety so I feel that I kind of know you in an ivf sort of way.  I read about the donor changing her mind and my heart broke for you.  I hope that you will still do a donor cycle and let me know how you are doing since I think there are just a few of us in that boat.  I hope that my experience will give some sort of hope to you.  Actually the doc who posted to one of your questions said it that we might not be able to use our eggs, but our womb is almost as good as a 20 year old!!!  So yeah!  Thanks for the words, Debra.

Hello everyone!  I just bumped into this forum and am I ever glad!!  It feels great knowing that I'm not alone in my IVF situation and identifying with other's symptoms after the transfer gives me a sense of security.  I got my transfer on Aug 19th with an HCG shot on Aug 14th....now i'm at my 2nd week of waiting before the blood test (Sept 4th)and like so many of you i did a HPT this morning with a negative result...I held back my tears because I have a feeling it might still be early to detect if I'm pregnant... right?  The HPT was a bad idea but the waiting is awful!  Let me know if 8 days after a transfer is too early for a HPT...

I wish you ALL to be successful and i pray for all of you even though i don't know you...i know how much we all want a baby and my prayers are with you..

I had two 8 cell embryos transferred and I saw comment about 8 cell embryos.  Are 8 cell embryos on day 3 not good?  I could not go to blast because my husband's family was coming in from out of town ( bad timing).

We do not have a choice at our fertility doctor's office between three and five-day transfers (as far as I know). I have always had three-day transfers. Does anyone know the requirements/reasons behind three vs. five-day transfers?

I just want to wish everyone good luck.  I had the retrieval today. I got 16 eggs.  I have been praying that all will fertilized and I will do a transfer on Sunday.  Just keep me in prayers and I will do the same for all of you.

Goodluck to all of you.  I had the same experience a year ago, I had 12 eggs but only 6 eggs were fertilized, 2 were transfered but after 5 days I got a negative result on my blood test.  Until now, I'm afraid to continue with the ET of my remaining frozen fertilized eggs.  It's really very stressful , waiting for the result.  I wish our agony will be over and God will provide us all with a child.
Let's pray for one another.

Good luck to in your endeavors for pursuing an fet.  I know it's so nerve racking & I don't know much about it only to say that if mine hadn't worked I would've definitely gone for it.  I do know what you mean about disappointment.  During my 1st cycle, when it failed it felt like it was my own fault & it took a little while to get over it.

Hello,

I'm sure by now you have your beta results.  We're all praying for everyone to get an BFP!  I know that's what I'm believing God for with my IVF.  BTW...you did test too early. My hubby and I conceived 3 embryos on 8/27 (1 8 cell grade A, 1 6 cell grade B, and 1 4 cell grade B). I like saying conceived versus retrieved or fertilized.  Conception means life to me and I know God is the creator of life and it helps to encourage me during this 2 week wait. The only symptoms I have had has been cramping and headaches.  I'm on progesterone injections & suppositories and estrogen.  I'm 40 so my RE is not taking any chances which is why he also did a 3dt. He felt that the babies would have a better chance of surviving in their mommy's uterus versus a petri dish.  Anyone that has any words of encouragement, please send them my way.  I like the comment that said, to believe for a positive as we bring into our life what we believe.  I also remember the words of "If you're going to pray, why worry; and if you're going to worry, why pray.  Let's be thankful..God knows what He's doing for each and everyone of us.  He would not have told us to be fruitful and multiply if He didn't mean it.  God bless!

I went through that with my first ivf try.  My first level was 5 and then it went up and then I lost at 6 weeks.  Keep alert for cramping and bleeding.  I had problems everyweek and then my levels drop.  I hope everything goes okay!

I got 2 embryos transferred on 9/5/07.  The PT is scheduled for 9/17.  Needless to say, the 2WW is excruciating!  Here are my symptoms:

Day 1 (transfer day):  bloating, sore boobs (from Progesterone)
Day 2:  at 11pm, I suddenly got severe cramps, similar to cramps I experienced after aspiration.  It last only for a few minutes, but I was taken off guard by this!
Day 3:  More cramping, but not as severe.  Still bloated and boobs are sore.
Day 4:  Mild cramping off and on throughout the day.

I really pray that the cramping is a good sign.  Has anyone else experienced cramping post-transfer?

Baby blessings to you all!

I am waiting for a blood test tomorrow.  Sore breasts, tummy feels full and I have sharp pains and no bleeding.  My doc says all good news.  I am 41 and it was a donor cycle with a five day transfer of two blasts with what the embryologist said were the best "blasts he's ever seen."  I want to practice yoga which I did prior to the transfer and I am so scared that I could harm them.  I am also worried that it may induce a miscarriage.  Any words of wisdom?  I have not had progesterone levels taken.  I am doing a progesterone shot 1x/day, progesterone cream vaginally, 10 mg of estrace (6 vaginally/4 orally) and low dose aspirin,

Hello. I'm 40 and will have my blood test on tomorrow as well.  I did a day 3 transfer of 3 embryos.  A & B quality.  I'm an exerciser and usually workout 6 days a week. However, after the transfer, even though I was told I could start working out again on the 5th day past transfer, I decided not too.  I'm expecting a BFP tomorrow but if my expectations are wrong, I atleast want to be able to say that it wasn't the exercise.  Now, I have heard that Yoga in the first trimester can be harmful.  Let's just say, better safe than sorry.  I like Yoga too but I've just been practicing the breathing exercises and leaving the rest alone. I'm sure some advice from a prenatal Yoga instructor would be better, if you hear from one, please share their advice.  God bless with your results tomorrow.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday was day 12 after IVF transfer.  My HCG level was 7.3.  Anything above 5 is pregnant but of course my doctor advised that it was likely that my levels would decrease.  I go back tomorrow to check to see if there was any increases.  Has anyone ever been through this before? If so, did you have a successful pregnancy?

Thanks for any info received.

Hi,

I am 35.

Every one thinks I have a good chance since my problem is with the tube. However, I feel no symptom at all, the same as my first failed cycle.  Transfer 3 on 9/7. All grade A with 8 cells.  Now I have 7 frozen left, all with 8 or 9 cells.  Are they going to survive?  How many times should I try, maybe only God knows.
