prometrium if pregnant ?

Hi, I am having my progestrone levels very low so doctor prescribe me to take prometrium 100mg twice daily, now my question is, I got BFP when I did HTP and now I am 5 weeks 2 days.
So now can I contiune to take prometrium after knowing that I am pregnant ?
then are some positive as well as negative responses regarding this, my doctor said that it will be of no harm contiuning in the first trimester.
is prometrium natural progestorone supplement ?

Thanks for your response doctor, I am 5 weeks 3 days now, I am seeing spotting/bleeding on and off since 2 days(sometimes pinkish, sometimes red). I know that it is possible as implantition bleeding, but is it also possible because of prometrium ?

Prometrium is the same progesterone as that which the ovary makes - so it is 'natural'. It is probably safe to take throughout the first trimester. There are some researchers who believe that there might be a very small increase in the risk of a birth defect in boy babies called hypospadias - with hypospadias the urethral opening is on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip or end. On the other hand, progesterone is used during pregnancy to prevent premature labor quite extensively. I personally do not believe the hypospadias association - of course there is always a small risk of this, but in my many years in practice using progesterone extensively I have not seen it.
