1ST IVF ATTEMPT NEGATIVE RESULT

I am a new member to this site.
I am 39 and my DH is 45.  I have had 2 miscarriages by getting pregnant naturally - one at 37 and one at 38 about same time in June each year. He has a low sperm count - 2million but can go up to 9mill sometimes.  About 50-60% mobility. Me fine.
We have just completed our first IVF attempt.  I just got a negative result after 2week wait. Did everything correctly but did get the flu a bit on Day 3.  Had a 5 Day transfer with 2 embryos.  Am very disappointed!! and upset.
At my egg collection I got 14 eggs but only 8 fertilised and in the end I only had 2 eggs to transfer on Day 5, 1 Blastocyte and one nearly blastocyte.  We didnt get any to freeze, which is what I was hoping for.
I have to wait to Jan for my second IVF attempt.  Am very upset.  The nurse has suggested we try IUI with a donor sperm as we cant really afford to pay for IVF treatment as its really expensive.  Everyone I know has had babies and I am getting let behind.  Please help me with any similar stories or advise as I feel very upset, alone and feel I may never have my dream met for having babies. Hope to hear soon. Thanks

Hi
Thanks for your advice.  I'm am very sorry for what has happened with your IVF treatments. I I know you have to stay strong and not give up hope, but its easier said than done, if you know what i mean.

I have heard IVF doesn't always work, only about 40% are sucessful which is quite low.

Have you heard about IUI using donor sperm? Would you do IVF with donor sperm? We may have to try this.  I have one more free treatment of IVF in Jan but then we have to pay and its about $8,000 which is very expensive and we cant afford it.  IUI with donor sperm is a bit cheaper.

i am a new member too!  i am 32 years old and I just did IVF for my third time.  The doctors retrieved 7 embryos, which all fertilized and matured.  I did a day 5 transfer and they put in 2, which were grades 1's and 2's, which meant i will most likely be pregnant.  I was able to freeze 4.

i just found out on 4/20 that i am not pregnant. My husband and i have been trying for 5 years.  The first IVF i did back in 09 i was pregnant and then i miscarried at 6 weeks.  2nd IVF i did a frozen transfer and it didnt take.  I took a year off and came back to do my 3rd IVF, which did not take.  I am waiting to get my period.

i know what you are going through.  you have to keep your head up high and stay strong and do not give up.
