2WW of 1st IVF Cycle--Any Advice for dealing with this?

I'm 38 and we have been TTC for nearly 5 years.  We got pregnant on our own in 2009, but I miscarried at 7wks.  We've tried chlomid and had one failed IUI attempt.  We are in the middle of this dreaded 2ww period of our first IVF cycle and I'm going crazy.  We had a 3dt on 3/23 of the only two embryos that fertilized after the ER (they retrieved 9, but only 4 were mature enough to be fertilized and only two actually did fertilize).  The embryologist said they were 8 cell grade B embryos and felt that they were "good" quality.  For the past several days, I've had cramping and breast tenderness, but today it's gone.  I can't help but wonder if it's a bad sign that it has gone away.  I would gladly suffer through longer it if it meant my embryos are implanting.  I have my Beta test on 4/4, so only 6 more days to go...UGH.

I go back and forth between feeling positive and then worrying about everything! I don't know anyone personally that has gone through this.  My family and friends are supportive, but I'd love to hear any advice and/or positive stories from people in the same situation.

It's amazing how helpful it can be just to ask questions and share with one another.  Glad to help in any way and hopefully we will have our BFP soon.  Thanks to you as well!

That's good to know about the cramps.  Mine were very similar to what you're describing.   Work has been a very good distraction this afternoon...lol.  Busy, busy, but that's good because it keeps my mind occupied.  Talking with you guys has definitely made me feel a lot better...thanks.

I had the sharp pains the day of and after the procedure as well, felt like it was coming from my ovaries.  Not at all like period cramps either.  Those have gone away for me as well.  My doctor says that is typical because of all the stress the ovaries have taken.  Try and keep busy.  I am trying to be super productive at work and that seems to help.

It does sound like we are in a similar situation.  The cramping was more like sharp shooting cramps vs the kind I have during my period.  They started about a day after the transfer last week and have now gone away.  They were never constant, they would just come and go.  You are so right about it being hard to be patient!

You are so right about the progesterone injections.  I'm sure they are playing a role in how I'm feeling both physically and emotionally.  Funny movies sound like a great idea...thanks.

Thank you both for your positive words and advice and hopefully we will all be pregnant soon!!

Best advice is to rest as much as you can and try to relax. The 2ww is torture but your body needs as little stress as possible right now. And don't worry about symptoms. After IVF, I didn't experience real symptoms until 6 weeks. And don't forget that progesterone can cause pregnancy like symptoms and they can certainly come and go. Try not to read into that.  I watched funny movies and read a lot to get me through. Stay positive!

I am on the 2ww as well.  I am 27 and we only got 6 eggs and 4 were mature enough to fertilize and only three did fertilize.  We had 2 8 cell transferred on 3/26.  One perfect and another almost perfect.  I have had no symptoms other than breast tenderness and being tired but I think that is from the progesterone injections.  When did the cramping start?  My beta test is 4/6 and its so hard to be patient.  Looks like we are in a very similar situation.  My best goes out to you and we just have to believe that this is going to work.
