5 weeks preg.

Hello ladies,
I'm 42 yrs old and been trying to get preg for 14 yrs well it finally happened and was confirmed by a blood test last week,HCG level read 65. Went to my ob dr yesteray was was given a urine test to read the HCG levels it gave a faint positive. Is a urine Hcg accurate especially if it is done in the afternoon when its not as concentrated as it is in the morning.. She said the numbers didn't look good and we would have to wait for the quantitive hcg to come back Thursday.Basically she said she thought there was only a 10% chance I still could be pregnant this waiting game is killing me...

Thanks for all your prayers...I got my HCG levels back today 598 the dr said Yes you are definately pregnant...Numbers were doubling fine and said I wasnt prob 5 weeks more like four going on Five now..I am so excited its been a long time coming.I was diagniosed with PCOS when I was 21 it wasnt until I was 39 that they found out my adrenal glands wasnt producing cortisol correctly. They found this out when I was given high dosage of steroids for two weeks straight as I had cellutitis on the neck. Well a month later I started getting periods regularly body hair was gone away I started losing weight and blood pressure and chlorestrol, trygleceroids under control. Its amazing that God has given me this wonderful gift

I dont know why your doctor would use a urine pregnancy test to determine how your numbers may or may not be.  I dont think she should have worried you like that.  The only way to tell your hcg level is to do a blood test, which is qualitative.  A quantitative test, like a hpt will only identify if hcg is in the urine - it wont tell you how much is there.  The darkness of the line could be affected by how much liquid you have taken in over the day.

ugh... doctors... they have no idea......

Hang in there!  Forgot to ask - how far along are you?
