Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome

I have had 4 miscarriages and no live births, all between 10-15 weeks gestation.  My concern is that many tests and thousands of dollars later my doctors just said try agian and we'll see what happens because they have no answers.  I did have a positive result for Antiphospholipid Antibodies, at a level of 42, but I was tested several times since and tested negative, then tested at a level of 38 again.  What could cause a positive test, then a negative, then a positive?  My doctors dismissed it after several negative tests.  I have seen a rheumatologist, reproductive endocrinologist, and 2 OB/GYN's.  Any ideas since I refuse to try again without any answers, 4 in a row is not chance miscarriages.

You should anyhow use a at least prophylactic dose of heparin and baby aspirin, even if they don't find anything. Because you are borderline with the Antiphospholipid or cardiolipin and because some of the coagulation factors remain unknown.

Good luck.

I too, have positive anticardiolipin antibodies and Antiphospholipid antibodies. I was able to have a child after many miscarriages also. If possible, see a perinatologist in your area and tell him about your antibodies. See if he will put you on either a baby aspirin a day or heparin shots during your pregnancy to keep things under control during your pregnancy. My antibodies also fluctuated and were highest during pregnancy. I agree that these miscarriages are probably not a coincidence. Get a doctor to listen to you.
(I worked as an OB nurse).  Good luck!
