Are we taking right medication

My wife has a irregular period every 5 to 6 months, lasting for 40-45 days cycle, in between such occurance the cycle is of 31-32 days. Most of the occurance of long cycles have been attached with some illness, during which she remained on medication..thrice it was because of migrane and once due to cold & fever. I think the medication taken during these days led to change in cycle. She is very senstive to medicines and usually avoid any. Since last month we planned for baby, we both visited a gyne to take advice.

She prescribed her Foilc acid tablets along with Siphene(50mg)x 5 days, Tab M2 Tone x 1bd 30 days, Tab Hyponidd 2 times prior food (L&D) 30 days, along with this she carried out my wife's follicur study, husbands semen analysis and finally progestrone test day 22, i.e yesterday. Results of which i will write below.

Doctor is always talking about..'dnt worry we will give some injections on 2nd/7th or maybe 9th day of next cycle..which will help in proper ovaluation'.
My question is why a MMBS doctor is advising Aurvedic drugs..of which she is not taught of?
I think its better we first give it a try for 3-4 months and if nothing happens then go to some other doctor..Please guide me..

Following are the details of my wife's cycle,her BBT Chart,her follicular report,my semen analysis, her progesterone test etc:-

Mesuration cycle - 2007-2008 - 31,31,32,31,42(migrane),32,31,31,42(cold&fever),38,42(migrane)

Semen analysis- PH-Alkaline, Fructose-detected, Color-greywhite,Liquifacation-30minutes, Motility-60, Motility-grade 0-non motile-34%, Motility-grade 1&2-sluggish motile-31%, Motility-grade 3&4-actively motile-35%, Sperm count-95mill, Abnormal forms-10%, Head defects-2%, Micro head-1%, Pin head-2%, Giant heads-1%, Double Heads-2%, Aggultinates-Present, Red Cells-Not Detected, Pus Cells-3-5/hpf, Epithelial cells-1-2/hpf, Crystals-not detected, Amorphous deposits-not detected.

Progesterone Serum Analysis on 22D of cycle - <0.15 ng/ml

Follicular Study - date -day- RO LO 02/02/08- 09d- -- multiple small follicle 6.0mm 04/02/08- 11d- 8x11mm multiple small follicle 8.0mm 06/02/08- 13d- 11x13mm multiple small follicle 9.0mm 08/02/08- 15d- 11x13mm multiple small follicle 9.0mm 12/02/08- 19d- 16x11 & 15x10mm multiple small follicle 9.0mm 15/02/08- 22d- none none

What i understand from above two reports is that progesterone is less due to which follicules have not developed into full size thus resulting in no ovalution yet..but how come on 19th day when follicle is 16x11mm it vanishes on 22day ?

Please advise the right course of action...does having the above mentioned medicines can lead to irregular cycle ?? Should i take my wife to some other doctor?? Or should we monitor the BBT chart for next 2-3 months..Try for baby..without any medication...Or should i go for the injections which the present doctor is advising to increase the harmone..??

Hi. I'm sorry that you are having problems trying to conceive but unfortunately it seems like a common thing lately:) as for her BBT it looks like there is no clear shift in her temps so it looks like she is not ovulating as with the progesterone draw that also indicates no ovulation. I would definitely have her see and RE (reproductive endocrinologist) and they will be able to help her more and if  it is just the case of not ovulating then all she would likely have to do is take a pill for a few days out of her cycle. But in the mean time to watch her temps and to see if she is ovulating i suggest using www.fertilityfriend.com i use it and so do many of the women on this forum and best of all it free. best of luck to you and your wife and i hope that you are able to find out what is going on:)

having many small follicles& low progesterone level on day 22 means your wife is not ovulating&my advice is not to try to get pregnant sponteneously&go to gyneacologist specific in fertilization,iam pharmacist &don't ever think drugs your wife took for migrane&cold affect ovulation,iam wondering if she is obese or have hairsutism?
