Hello again,
So my doc gave me metformin and I am actually going to take my first pill right this second along with day one of provera. DONE
I am a little worried about the metformin causeing me to have a drop in my sugar but even the leaflet that comes with the prescription says it is unlikely to cause a drop in your sugar unless you are taking other diabetic drugs.
My dad is diabetic and has taken it before, he was ok with it but he is worried it will make me have a drop in my sugar. But I gotta do what i gotta do! It has tons of benifits for my PCOS and TTC that It outweighs the risk of low sugar! I will just keep a candy bar in my purse! LOL
anyone else taking metformin have a problem with their sugar?
Thanks
Lynn
I didn't know Metformin helped with weight loss too! wow! Not that thats the reason I am thinkof taking it but hey its a nice side effect! LOL Why did you take it back when you were 16? Does it help control the size of the cysts? Each cycle I can feel cysts and some are more painful than others....it would be great if it did help control that! are there any icky side effects?
Thanks for the info!!!
I have been on Metformin since May 2010. I have lost 50+ pounds, since I have been on it. I have taken it back when I was 16 (now 24), and I stopped because of the side effects. Since May, I really have had any side effects. I start with 500mg twice and day, now I am on 1500mg daily. I too have PCOS. As far as OPK, I have done the OPK for about 4 months. There are several times were I would get + opk. but Af would not come 16 or even 28 days later. On the box witht he strips they do say that some women with PCOS or taking Ferility Pill may have a false positive. So they advice you to ask you GYN/MD. I hope it works for you. I just took Provera last night, since I haven't had AF in 92 days (longest she has never showed up), and hopefully taking Ferama or Clomid in the next two weeks.
thanks lynn for your response.
anyone else have thoughts on metformin?
HI,
Im sorry to hear about your M/C
OPK (ovulation predictor kit) Your test line needs to be as dark or darker then the control line. Test line is on the left and control is on the right. Most women will always have a slight test line.
Once you get that line that is as dark or darker, should ovulate within 24-48 hours later. You should BD then!
Maybe Clomid isnt the right drug for you! Ask your doc about Femara. I don't know to much about metformin but I have heard great things about it! I will be asking my doc tomorrow if its would benifit me...I also have PCOS
Hope this helps and Good Luck
Lynn
