What is BETA?

Is BETA the same thing as HCG?  I just went for my blood work and my Dr. only ordered HCG and progesterone test.  Is that the normal tests.  Also,  I wanted to ask..those of you that have received a BFP, has your DR scheduled you any appts to meet with him/her or anything?  I called my docs office and they said that they typically wait 7 wks.  I have been pregnany twice and both times they took me in prior to that.  I don't know if it was just because they knew I was miscarrying both times or what.  Anyways,  I am having light cramps in my back "again" and was a little worried.  Was hoping for some re-assurance.

yes Beta test is the HCG test.The correct name is BHCG.

with fertility treatments my doc will do blood levels early
but he won;t see me until after 8 weeks (IF my RE recommends U/s we do those but I still don;t see doc)
