Can you get the LH surge and never "release" the egg?

Yes, you can get a surge an not ovulate. There is a syndrome called unruptured leutenized follicle syndrome where a person gets a surge and their progesterone levels indicate they've ovulated, but they haven't. I think it's fairly rare, though.
I recently went to a new RE (for a second opinion) and he did a scan and showed me the corpus luteum.  I think that's the only way you can know for sure you ovulated...

I am sorry you are stressing so much about this.  I have heard to have a lot of CM is good.  A lot of women hade a lot of CM before they got their BFP.  As for the PCOS thing, I am not completely sure, I know it has to do with haing cysts on your ovaries.  I have not been tested for it because my doctors won't do any "fertility" type testing until I have been TTC for one year.  Are you going to take another HPT?  I would take another one just to see what it says since AF has not shown up yet.  I have actually heard of quite a few women who did not not get a BFP for a few weeks after a late period even though they were pregnant.  Or you might have ovulated later than you thought and now a HPT would detect the pregnancy when it wouldn't the last time you tested.

Hope that helps a little.

You are just a few days behind me....the thing that is throwing me off right now is the "DC-CM" (tmi sorry) but its crazy ----a lot and weird! ...more so than ever....so thats what makes me worried something is wrong :(

is it common to for girls not to get a + for a couple weeks after their missed af? I dont have any other signs but the DC and my BB's are a "little" sore..not sensitive tho...

Can someone fill me in on this pcos? it seems like a LOT of people have it...i "THINK" i was tested for it...is it where they test your "testosterone level""???? If so, mine came back "fine" i guess. I think this bbt thing is what is making me crazy...now that i started....how do you stop? and "do you stop"???

I know this is going to easier said then done, but your emotions play a part in AF. Try not to be stressed and sad and frustrated. These are all factors that may cause AF to be late. Like I said easier said then done. I am doing that now..because I am currently LATE by 3 days. I got + OPK on the 22nd, and 3 days following it (pics on profile) but NO AF! I have never wanted AF to come so bad like I do now. Me and DH are TTC and I am like COME ON! I do have PCOS and currently taking medication :(. So I am faced with challenges.

I would make that appt for 2 week...sorry you have to wait two weeks. Maybe our AF would come by then :). But I stoped charting my temps because even know I do O they never change. My baseline is 87.9. So they don't really work for me. But I did bloodwork last month, and it was saying that I would Ovulate! BUT still BFN and no AF! Honestly, just me being me, I feel less of a women not having my AF :(

I get false opk's quite often. It seems as though every time I pee on the stick it's positive. I know I didn't ovulate because I'm charting my bbt and didn't get the rise indicating ovulation. My periods also tend to be irregular. My doc explains that it's my body trying to execute ovulation and fails ( false opk), then it trys again ( false opk again) until finally I ovulate or I get a "false" period with no ovulation. It's very frustrating because I'm ttc and it's so hard to keep thinking your about to ovulate. Good luck, I'm sure your af will make an appearance.

My doctor tested me for pcos (isnt that the testosterone test? they check for high levels of testosterone?) They tested that and it came back clear and also tested my thyroid..came back clear...so no problems that i know of...but this is the 2nd time in 6 months that i have missed a period for a month....

i had the "surge" the first week of the month...(starting tempting right around that time) so hard to compare that...i called my doc (OB) and they didnt want to see me for another week or 2? so now im in limbo and sad/frustrated...ive never wanted AF so bad:(

yeah your can get a LH surge and never really ovulate. Do you have PCOS? or any other underline health problem? Women may have their AF but never ovulate. This actually happen to me in May. I got a + OPK on 22,23,24. And I was waiting for AF to come in June, 3 wks late, and tested twice and BFN. I just got a script for Provera to help jump start AF. I thought if you get a + OPK then you are sure to get AF. Guess not. Best of luck to you
