Clomid and Confused

Hi-

I am new to this, so sorry for the long post.

I recently starting taking Clomid (days 5-9). I got a + OPK test on day 14 and still have been testing b/c they say it can be a false positive. I am still testing and only see very light lines. Also, my Dr. is not monitoring me and gave me three months of the 50mg dosage. I'm not really comfortable w this approach. Should I call and ask her to bump me up to 100 next month if nothing happens this month?? I see that most people are monitored by their Dr. and their dosage is changed on a monthly basis. Please help!

She is right! If you get a + OPK you have to see by temps or or a blood test to make sure you are Oing. You can have a + which is your body releaseing the LH hormone without O'ing!!!!! Did your dr tell you this? If you are Oing with the 50 mg of clomid you DO NOT need to get a higher dose! Your body just needs time to get pregnant! It will happen. Here is a link to a clomid check list for your dr.
http://www.babies-by-levin.com/pdf_forms/clomid_scorecard.pdf you can write it out yourself as this is for another dr! Most people O on cycle day 17 with clomid from what I hear. If you do not respond to the 50mg the first month then they can up you but like she said you will have more side effects. Do you have an RE or just being followed by your GYN?

Are u taking your temps to monitor if you actually did ovualte on cd 14? If you are and temps increased there is no need to keep taking an OPK.  If Clomid at 50mg does work for you then there is no reason to increase the dose. Clomid helps you to ovulate it does not mean you will get pregnant tho. So if u see that you do in fact ovulate on 50mg clomid but do not get pregnant keep on with the 50mg.  To increase the dose does bring on more unpleasant side effects. The ones that are monitored and increased in dose monthly are the ones that Clomid at the lower doses is not working for them. The only way to ensure it is working is to be monitored by your doctor.

Many OB doctors unfortunately do not monitor u on Clomid. I would at least insist on a cd21 progesterone test that will also let u know if you in fact ovulated.
