I am also starting it, on my own. No RE here is familiar with DHEA. I bought some good quality 50mg capsules off of a website. I'm told the Micronized Dhea is better and I do think the quality varies. The cheap stuff I bought from CVS last yr was awful and gave me headaches. So far the stuff I got seems ok and I may go down to 25mg a day if I need to. I've had my testosterone tested and it's normal so I personally don't see any issues with DHea. It has alot of other health benefits too and I'm anxious to see if it helps me get pregnant. I will post updates in the nearby future about side effects and so on.
Hello,
DHEA is useful in enhancing fertility in women with advanced maternal age and in women with diminished ovarian reserve. It is best to talk to your doctor before taking any supplement. It might carry some risks like unpleasant or dangerous side effects and possible interactions with medications and other supplements.
DHEA is safe when taken in moderate doses for short periods of time. It can cause few side effects like acne, irritability, thinning of hair, emotional changes, headaches and heart rhythm disturbances like arrhythmias. Higher doses of DHEA can increase the risk of these side effects.
If you find out that you are pregnant it is best to stop taking the supplement since it may be harmful to your baby. It should also be avoided while breastfeeding.
It is suggested to start or discontinue any medications only after consulting your attending doctor. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I sincerely hope it helps. Keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!
