So I'm 16 years old and my boyfriend an I have been trying to have a baby, & he's been letting his spurm out inside me so I can get pregnant he's done it six times & I just took a pregnancy test 35 minutes ago and it showed one dark pink line and a faint one /: I don't understand? Please help me figure this out.
Yes, OB's can and will do this. I have an appointment (preconception apt.) next week and my OB has agreed to go ahead and do a transvaginal ultrasound to look at my follicles since I will be right at ovulation and he is also going to draw blood hormone levels. On day 23, I am going back to him to get my progesterone levels draw to make sure I ovulated. :) Good luck TTC ladies.

Well, I think some OB's will do it, but usually it's an RE. If you have a good relationship w/your OB, they may be willing.
I am starting to wonder this about my body also. Will a regular OB do any of this kind of testing or do i have to seek a RE??
Thank you so much for all the information.
Well, HOPEFULLY you can get in just before you normally have a surge, or the day you get your surge, & they will measure your follicle's inside your ovaries, SHOULD be between 16mm-25mm anything over 18 is great. Then POST ovulation, the ultra sound will CONFIRM that your follicle released an egg. Insuring that yes you DID ovulate.
I bet you do ovulate, but sometimes are bodies get off track for a bit;-/
I just suggest this cuz this way you will have some answers, answered;)
Thank you both so much for the advice. I will try to find out where I can get an ultrasound outside my clinic (I have to wait about 3 months for an appoitment) What will an internal ultrasound show before and after ovulation? What should I look for?
I can't answer the question on whether you can get an lh surge & not ovulate, but I wouldn't disagree with ita. She has a great suggestion. If you have an ob or fertility doc, see if they can monitor you more closely. Good luck! =)
I understand your frustration;) But to answer your question, yes, you CAN have a surge & not have an egg/ovulate.
Maybe it would be a good idea (peace of mind) to get an internal ultra sound done right before you are supposed to ovulate, & then about 24-36 hours post ovulation, just to confirm.
Even if you have to pay out of pocket, it might be around $100.00 per US, it would be worth it.
Just a suggestion;)
Good luck!
Thanks. I will try again and on more days. So, if I have an LH surge by body will release an egg 24-36 hours later? Is it possible to have an LH surge an no egg?
Hi. Using the monitor & predictor tests are very helpful catching your lh surge, but that is 24-36 hours prior to when you ovulate. So, be sure to keep up the bd'ing (sex). It's a good idea, too, to bd every other day between the end of AF (your period) and a couple days after your lh surge. That way, you're covering your bases & yes, it's better for your husband to "release" more than once per week ;) Congrats to you for having your beautiful daughter & best wishes as you ttc!
