transfer date changed--worried

Yesterday, the nurse called and said I'd have the transfer on Thursday (which she said was day 5 transfer--I had the retrieval on Sunday).  Then she called back today and said the doctor had looked at the fertilization report and was changing it to Friday and said it would be a 5 day transfer. I asked why, then, was I told Thursday would be a 5 day transfer and wouldn't this really be considered a 6 day transfer? She said no, that he was counting Monday as day 1 instead of Sunday.
But isn't that just semantics?
Does anyone know how it's usually done? Is retrieval day counted as day 1? Or the day after retrieval?
Does this mean they aren't growing as well as expected??
I honestly did not need more stress : (

hi .. my first round of ivf I had a day 5 transfer after retrieval on the weds and transfer on monday so that made retrieval day 0  so you're all good ... it's pretty common now to wait and see how the little ones develop before transferring  .. good luck!!

You will be fine - it's a great sign that those embies are growing stronger!!!  I had my egg collection on Sunday, and had two replaced today, Wednesday, so I had a Day 3 transfer.  Collection was considered Day 0, so in my books you're on track for a Day 5 transfer - perfect!!!  It's obviously just something particular to some clinics!!

ALL THE BEST!!!!

day 3 or day 5, either days are good.  they'll still produce babies.  just think... as long as you get a BFP at the end... that is that matters, right?
so just relax and think positive (BFP coming your way).
GOOD LUCK!

My RE also counts the day of retrieval as day 0. Seems like your RE is doing what mine did. 5 days after retrieval day. I think on retrieval day they get fertilize with sperm and then consider the next day when cells start to multiply as day 1. I know how stressful this is. Each day when my RE would call with an update,i would be a basket case. One day he was like- you sound so stressed. I said, i am! he then assured me there is nothing to stress about. It's not even in your hands anymore. Don't worry. i bet this works for you! Things are sounding really good. good luck!!!

if they push it out it means they can handle the lab environment and still grow. it's okay. don't count days count the babies :)

I had retrieval on a Monday and a 5 day transfer that Saturday. My RE counts the retrieval as Day 0. Guess they're all different but you have to trust your RE is doing what's best based on what he's seeing. Don't worry. If they had concerns, they'd likely go sooner, so nothing sounds unusual about your REs protocol.

Thanks!  This process is so crazy. One minute I'm sure it's going to work and the next I'm sure it's not going to work.
Good luck to all of you, too : )

hi
dont know alot but in all 3 of my attempts they have counted the day of retrieval as day 1. they tell me to do my bloods 14days from retrieval.
they seem to be leaving it a long time. but ive always had day3 transfers.

just keep your fingers crossed they must know what they are doing and dont think the worst...
good luck for friday
fingers crossed for you!!

No, no, no..... don't count that much. They look at the cell growth and determine what's best. Actually they are growing so nicely that they are taking the risk for them to grow into full blastocyst (which actually has different stages) so the uterus takes them  when it is ready.... it is good :) ..... most of the time a 5 day transfer is more succesful than a 3 day one.

Keep the faith!!!
TONS OF BABY DUST YOUR WAYYYYYY!!!!
