Hey there,
Please do not blame yourself. I had the same thing with my second IVF cycle, all symptoms went away but I had a positive HCG, though very low #s then had a miscarriage. The RE ordered 15 different tests for auto immune problems and clotting factors. One of the clotting factors was positive and he started me on new meds for this cycle, I am now 5 weeks pregnant. As it sounds like this has happened twice, I would push for the blood tests before you move onto another cycle.
You did everything you could now it is time for your RE to earn their keep!! Hang in there and I will be thinking of you!
I'm curious to know what the result was? Did you experience any back ache and cramping 5 days after transfer? Not sure if I should have one extra thing to worry about.
Hello, I also just had my seconf IVF cycle and today is day 9 post transfer. The doctor transferred 2 perfect blastocysts on Feb. 9th. During the last cycle...i had really bad 7-celled embryos to work with and I got pregnant...i felt the same symptoms as you...nausea...breast pain..nipples hurt really bad...then all of a sudden it all stopped. I miscarried a week later. I rested for 2 weeks...so don't blame yourself for working too hard. The baby was just not viable enough to grow on it's own and it happens to everyone. I also take one baby aspirin a day, and I also do the Lovenox injections once a day. I have a blood clotting problem where the blood won't reach the baby and it would die. So the Lovenox is a heparin injection to keep the blood circulating.
This cycle is a little different to me. My breasts have been hurting all along, ever since I started the cycle, but the pain is getting more intense. My breasts are also read...swollen..but that could be a result of the progesterone. I also feeling some nausea...sensitivity to smells..and anxios. It feels different from the first IVF cycle. I'm having flu like symptoms and really tired. I'm not saying that i'm pregnant...its way too early to tell. Some people don't even feel a thing until they're 6 weeks along, so i'm basing all my feelings on the progesterone injections. I go in for my beta HCG test on Saturday the 23rd...trying to stay positive but also preparing myself for the worst!
I think it's common with IVF to have a trigger shot of HCG 36 hours before your egg retrival. HCG is the hormone that your body makes only when you are pregnant. Did you have that shot? If so, it is natural for you to have pregnancy-like symptoms, because you injected that hormone into your body. The shot usually dissipates out of your system within 10 days, depending on how much you took. After that, if you become pregnant, your body will start making it's own HCG, and you will again experience symptoms. It's good that you have been careful, but on the other hand, you should not think that you did something the first time to cause a miscarriage. What you experienced was probably just the HCG from the shot leaving your system
You might not be getting enough blood to your uterus and that's why the embyro dies. I am on my 2nd IVF and go in for my blood test today. I did acupuncture, and ate rich blood foods, quit coffee, which was hard, and I'm taking a baby aspirin a day. I did have positive HCG numbers on friday I hope they doubled. Ask your doctor about the blood flow thing, and try to stay positive. I didn't say in the beginning but the same thing happen to me with my first IVF, m/c at 5 weeks.
