What clinic are you going to? It seems weird that the doctor would tell you in advance how many eggs the donor would produce. Some produce more, some produce less. Is the doctor saying that no matter how many eggs the donor produces, he or she will only allow six of them to be fertilized? Are are you discussing getting embryos that already exist?
When you used the donor eggs did you get frozen? Do you remember how many you got, fertilized, and became embryos? My RE doctor said my purchase would be for a lot of 6 eggs.
I used donor eggs. I was timed out otherwise, which helped because if you still think it could be your own eggs or could be a donor's, unless you have something big making the decision for you (such as it being too late for your own eggs) it would be a harder decision. For us it was just a no-brainer if we wanted a child at all. Our son is without a doubt the joy of our lives. He does know he came from a donor and daddy's sperm, but doesn't care very much. lol
A friend of mine used a donor and was lucky enough to be matched with someone who the office said looks a lot like her. No one has ever questioned her babies resemblance. They do so much screening for this and I think success rate is good. Friend had 3 babies with same eggs and carried them all just fine. 3 c sections and excellent results. Kids are healthy. Good luck!
I personally have not used an egg donor, but I have close family who have and their children are wonderful and so very loved. I have discussed this with the mother and father in detail and they have always said that from the moment the embryos were implanted the babies were their babies and they loves them like nothing else. Their donor is anonymous and the children are made aware of the situation even though they a young it's so they don't find out later in life...
