Femara Side Effects??

So, I took Femara for the first time this cycle - 10 pills on CD7 (he'd rather do them on CD3, but since my cycles have been running long, he took a chance).  Anyway, I've been waking up with rather severe tummyaches and intestinal cramps and also getting massive headaches (borderline migraines) in the afternoon....

Could this be due to the Femara?

I am going to the RE on the 14th to see about getting on some meds that might help me out to get pg while I'm saving up for another IUI. What's the difference between Femara and Clomid? Do they do the same thing? I took Clomid for 3 months a while back but I don't think I BD at the right time for it to even work. I didn't like it all that much either. Do you think I should ask the RE about Femara instead and does it cost about the same?

When I switched from Clomid to Femara, I felt so much better EXCEPT for the awful headaches.  I found an article somewhere that said that the "estrogen headaches" are the only side effect that is usually worse with Femara when compared to Clomid, so I think you are definitely getting those from the Femara.  As far as the intestinal cramping, I agree with the others.  It could certainly be because you took such a high dose, but I would check with the doctor to be sure.  Good luck to you and hope you feel better!

Hi wanting! I'm on my third round of femara, and had no side effects the first month, but the second and third cycle, I did have a headache on and off for a couple of days. No tummy aches or breaking out, though. BUT, since you took such a high dose all at once, it wouldn't surprise me if the stimulation of the ovaries is causing some crampiness. Like dnikki said, you could always call your doctor and check. Best of luck!

I just took my first round of femara and I kept getting headaches on and off all day all week... So I think those are from femara. Not sure about the tummyaches though, you may want to call your RE's office...

Good Luck :)

Also, I have broken out horribly in the last few days - could that be due to Femara, too?
