thanks so much for your response. TankerChic, please let me know how it goes with your IUI - I wish you the very best and will keep hoping for you too. This whole process is so hard! Who knew, through all those years we tried to NOT get preggo!!
I had my first IUI in Jan, was diagnoses with ectopic in Feb, and had my right tube removed in March. I just had my second IUI 15 May but the follicles (2) were on the right ovary, so I really don't have many expectations for this IUI.
If your mature follicles are on the side with the tube, I think your chances are just as good as they were before. The trick is getting the follicles to develop on correct ovary. My RE says an egg can travel to a tube on the opposite side because they aren't really laid out in a 'Y' like you see them in the cartoon pics. He says it is more like an orangutan with his shoulders hunched over and his arms hanging down. He says that because of that, it is very easy for an egg to travel from a right ovary to a left tube. I have googled and googled and googled this subject and everything I have read, says it is possible but that it is rare. So I really don't know what to believe. I took the leap of faith and went ahead with the IUI. I'll know if it worked around 25 to 29 May.
hi there i also had an eptopic that almost ruptured i thought i had my period then a few days after it was over i started spotting and my doc told me to do a preg test. i however made it to almost 7 weeks and then i was in alot of pain and went in and had emergency surgery to remove the right ovary and fallopian tube. but any way that happened in Aug 06 and in jan 07 i found out i was preg again unfortunatly it was a chemical preg and it didnt stick but at least i know i can get preg.
as for the possibility of it happening again yes it can once you have one then you are more likely then other women who have never had one. I think its like 5-15 pergcent chance that it happens again. but that could be wrong. Even if you had the damaged tube removed and the docs dont know why it happens in the first place.
Hi there! I just had the same thing although I didn't know I was pregnant. I thought I had my period but about a week later I woke up in the middle of the night with severe pelvic pain. Went to the ER and after 4 hours they discovered it was an ruptured etopic. They removed my left tube and about 1.5 liters of blood. I have also had 2 miscarriages, all this in the pst 6 months. My dr said "Well you still have the right tube". I think the chances are a little lower for each month. But I think it can work. Although for myself I am not sure I am meant to hve more kids. Good luck to you!!
