For those women who have done IVF

My retrieval is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:30am.  I triggered last night at 10:30pm.  For the past day and a half though, I've been getting a ton of the egg white cervical mucous.  I'm so nervous that I'm going to accidently ovulate before retrieval.  Is the egg white cervical mucous (EWCM) normal during the IVF cycle?  I've heard we get EWCM because of elevated estrogen levels, which anyone going through IVF obviously has, but I just want to make sure.

I had some EWCM in my IVF cycle too, and like you I was a little nervous about ovulating before retrieval...although mostly because I felt some cramping and was nervous they were ovulation cramps. But when I came in 36 hours or so after trigger, they were all still there ;-)

Also, since EWCM is caused by high levels of estrogen, it makes sense that you're seeing more of it at this stage, since you probably have a very high level right now (usually about 200 per mature follicle).

In general, I think it's very unusual to ovulate before retrieval, because IVF cycles are so well controlled. So try not to worry and best of luck tomorrow!

:-)

All the best with your IVF!!!!  How excited.  I don't remember how much EWCM there was but I'm sure you are also on an injection that suppresses ovulation - this makes sure you keep growing without actually releasing any of your eggs.  You will be fine.  Good luck!!!
