HELP!!!! HELP!!! HELP!!

So I'm doing egg donor and it just came to my knowledge that this third donor we picked is taking Wellbutrin ( an antidepressant) and my fertility clinic may not accept her. It's not much about the depression/anxiety itself but because of the medication I think. Do you know if antidepressants affect egg quality!! This is the third donor we picked and it is just such a bad luck!!!
What do you think ladies?

Hi,
Congrats for your twins
I am not sure you still check this site,  but still want to ask you this.
I have the same dilemma as you had in 2010 with your donor, my donor has major depressive disorder and takes wellbutrin and fluoxetine. My RE also said that drugs do not effect egg quality..
My questions to you is: are your twins from the eggs donated by same donor who was on wellbutrin?
How are the  twins doing...did every thing go normally during your pregnancy, delivery and babies are healthy?
PL if you see this post pl DO answer me.....

Thanks

Thanks for your concerns:)

She will start her screening next week, Apparently she takes a very low dose of Wellbutrin and it was not prescribed by a psychiatrist because of a disorder. The medication does not affect the eggs at all the doctor told me plus she will stop it during that time. She should be just fine. I really like her!! She is 28 and a nurse that works with newborns.
I have my screening on Nov 16 and then late Dic early Jan we will do the transfer.

Wish me luck everyone!!!

I don't think antidepressents are to bad... I know I've been prescribed them before after a bad break up with an old boyfriend.  I only took them for a couple of months, and I think I'm a happy go lucky daughter.

Mariana,  I'm sorry to hear that.  I would be be concerned not only about the effects of the drugs on the eggs/embryo but more importantly about her genes.  I hope I do not sound judgmental - I have known wonderful women who have been on antidepressants at certain points in their lives - but I personally would want a happy, positive person as my egg donor.  You never know what could be genetically transmitted to your child.  I'm so sorry to say this, but I'd look for another donor.

Man, I hate that that is happening!  did she tell them she was taking the med's when she applied to be a donor?  Did she disclose this info?  I think I would ask her to stop, even if they have to ween her off of them...
my donor didn't drink or anything when she was stimming for me.  To bad the dang RE did such a bad job stimming her! ugh!

There is only 1 antidepressant that is proven to be ok during pregnancy and breast feeding, I would imagine it may then effect the egg. I don't remember what one it is but think it is prozac. That is a tough decision.

She is willing to stop it but the nurse said it is not just like that!! I'm waiting for the nurse to call me.

Any medication during is not good. This might affect the quality of eggs. This is what I have read about. Check what your RE has to say. Good luck!
