High FSH

I just started with a new doc for a second opinion(sorry I don't know all the abbreviations) which really turns out to be a first opinion.  My FSH is 21.  I am 37 so I know I am getting up there.  The doc basically told me it would be almost impossible to get pregnant and even if I did, I am at a high risk of miscarriage and that our best chances of having a baby is to use an egg donor.  Two questions.  Is there anyone out there that got pregnant with that high of an FSH?  and for the egg donor.  I am not sure what to think of that.  Any opinions?

I am using donor eggs.  I personally think it is a wonderful way for us "older" women to become mothers.  You pick your donor, you carry the child, and you get to raise the child.  You will feel every kick and every labor pain.  You will get to have that little baby in your arms and call it your own.  I cannot imagine not feeling as if I am that childs mother.  I am adopted, and have my dad's personality... and funny enough.... my mom's hands! strange huh?   I started this journey when I was 41, and never even considered using my own eggs.  I just wanted a happy health baby.  After dealing with a bad RE and spending a ot of $$$, I am getting ready to start with a new RE and a new donor.

I know there are several woman on here who are using there own eggs over 38 and several woman who are using donor eggs... a lot of both have been successful.

I wish you luck in witchever path you choose.  I hope you get your BFP (big fat positive/pregnant) soon!!

I would love to talk to you more if you would like.

SSBD!!!

In the book Inconceivable the author got pregnant w/ an FSH of 30 (naturally, no fertility meds). Not to give anyone false hope but it's worth a read

Thank you for your words of encouragement.  We are definitely staying positive and hoping for the best.  We are in the middle of an IUI cycle now.  Just waiting to do the blood test next Thursday.  We have a couple more tries after this if it doesn't work.  We are not losing hope.  We are going to exhaust all IUI and possibly IVF before thinking about the possibility of donor eggs.  We'll soon see.
