My son was conceived on my third IUI. I am now doing IUI again for another child. I just had my third IUI (this time around) and it was negative. Long story but I don't really count the first two IUIs, so I am really considering this my first IUI (this time around) (if that makes sense). It is discouraging, but I'm sure it will happen, it is just a matter of time. Best of luck to you. Hang in there.
I think statistically you have about 10 to 25% chance with IUI each cycle. With natural methods and no infertility issues you would have about a 10% chance each cycle.
Stay positive, it is common for these things to take more than one try.
IUI has a great chance! many times it doesn't work the first time, since they are learning how your body reacts to things etc.. we got preg on our third IUI but miscarried, and again when we tried again on our 2nd attempt after the first mc.. unfortuantely mc again : ( so we are trying again since it works! we were told our only chance was IVF with ICSI due to all of our fertility "challenges" (i have only one working ovary, severe endo, pcos, LUFS and we have severe male factor!) so if it can work for us yall defintely have a great chance!!! GOOD LUCK! : )
I want to say how sad it is that IUI didn't work on the first try. I am preparing for my first IUI. I noticed that you were going to be taking clomid. I have taken clomid on its own for the past 6 months and no result in pregnancy. My doctor wants me to take Letrozole for this cycle and if the IUI is not successful I will go onto using the injectibles as well. After reading about it I learned that it gets out of your system quicker than clomid so you end up having a better uterine lining. (just something to talk with your doc about) Ohhh, I hope it works out for you and we both get BFP's! Keep us posted!
Hi Nikki -
My name is Marline and i had iui on the 17th as well. My beta came back negative yesterday as well. It is indeed sad. I want to tell you to keep the faith as you will receive your miracle in due time. God has a plan for all of his children. It's just that sometimes his timing is not our timing.
I am also diagnosed with pcos and we also have a male factor issue. My pcos is a bit under control now. When I am on the meds for the iui cycles, all is perfect and pcos doesn't remain an issue.
If I remember correctly, iui has a 25-30% success rate. That gets a bit higher when on injectible drugs.
Just hang in there. We are all here for u. Have faith. It will happen
xo,
Happy New Year
Marline
