IVF & Hair Loss

Has anyone ever experienced hair loss while they were doing ivf?  I'm not sure if it's from the drugs or from the stress of having a miscarriage, but it is quite significant.

I too have had significant hair loss.  I've had 2 ivf cycles and 4 miscarriages as well as being diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and other major family and business stresses.  My hair has been falling out for some time.  During my first ivf cycle i lost the most.  Since then I have come to terms with a lot and my stress levels have decreased and so has the amount of hair loss. I have just completed my second cycle and the loss has stopped so I don't put the loss down to the ivf but the stress.

I saw a dermatologist earlier in the year and she suggested i had alopecia. I have been stressing about it ever since but just found out last week (saw a specialist) that it wasn't alopecia and that most of it should grow back one the stress is gone.

It is so distressing to not only be going through the most devastating time but to also worry about hair loss. Life can be difficult at times but I do know it gets better.

I had a quite hair loss while i did the first IVF. I started loosing more and more while on injections. I asked my doctor about it and he said that it was probrably stress. I think that it is also from the hormones cause are a lot that we take. And combined with stress well is like a bomb.... I would recomend to do accupuncture. I did it with my second cycle and i didn't loose any hair and i was more relaxed and also the egg quality was better.

My hair loss has been ongoing since January of this year and I have seen quite a few specialists since then. All in all they could not tell me why I am losing my hair but they said that hair reacts with a 3 months delay. Some of my factors have included massive stress around IVF / late miscarriage / sudden death of my mom as well as iron defficiency. The iron levels are now normal again but I am still losing hair. And as you do I am now stressed about not getting pregnant (just went through my second IVF which was unsuccessful) and about losing my hair!
