How long after a fibroid surgery did you wait to concieve?

I had a laporoscopy  fibroid removed back in march and my dr told me that i need to wait at least for a year to conceive. Is thus common?  I have read that 3 months is enough.

Thanks; the fibroid was not in a cavity, i was told that with a few pushes it popped out. The next day after the surgery I even had my period (which was right on day 29). I took estrogen for 4 weeks and that is about it. I am curious re the length of time I was asked to wait. Is it common?

HI,
Three months is sufficient for sub-serous fibroids. However when fibroids are deep seated and removal difficult, it can lead to scarring of the uterus. In such situations a longer gap is recommended. Hope this helps.
