How soon after Clomid should I have a period?

Hello. I am a 31 year old trying to conceive for the first time.

Here is a little background: My husband and I have been trying to conceive since the end of June. I got off birth control after being on it for 15 years the end of May. By the time October came around, I still hadn't had a period. I called my OB and he did an transvaginal ultrasound and gave me a prescription for Clomid 50mg.
I started taking on October 28th as directed by him. After completing the medication the beginning of this month, his office wanted me to come back in for a follicle study. I had another transvaginal ultrasound and he determined that I should be releasing an egg shortly in the following days. He instructed my husband and I to have times intercourse every other day for 10 days starting on November 7th. He stated that if I don't get pregnant, I will have a period in a couple of weeks.
We did as instructed up until today, which should have been our 5th day trying, because I starting bleeding this morning.

I'm completely new to this. I started bleeding and I don't know if it's implantation bleeding or if it's a period. My doctor said my period would start in a couple of weeks if I didn't get pregnant, so I don't know if this is just a normal occurrence for someone who is taking Clomid or not.

Symptoms: Slight cramping, heavy bleeding, blood is brown-tinged. I had no symptoms before this morning when I started bleeding.

I've read about implantation bleeding, but I don't think this is it. I talked to my mom and she said she had the same thing happen to her when she was pregnant with me.

So, I guess my main question is: Is it normal to start your period immediately after ovulation after taking Clomid?

So, I believe the point of clomid when trying to conceive is that it makes you hyper ovulate.   Many times a woman is given progesterone to start bleeding.  Clomid just really works on eggs being available to fertilize if that makes sense.  Normally you take it after you get a period.  Since you didn't get a period, that makes it tricky!  Most of the time, women are instructed to take clomid on day 5 to 9 of their cycle with cycle day one being the first day of their period.  So, I'm wondering if they are trying to get you going for a regular cycle here or what they are doing?  Remember this statistic though that it takes the average couple a minimum of a year to conceive.  :>)  Took me 3. But it usually happens.  Your biggest challenge is to get going with a cycle here it sounds like.  Progesterone to kick start a period and then clomid makes more sense to me than just clomid at this point. And then, do you track your cycle with temperature taking?  I highly recommend it and will tell you how if you are unfamiliar.
