I dont feel like my doctor is informing me enough

My husband and I have been TTC for 9 months.  I visited my doctor and showed him my temps and OPK results.  He first gave me a prescription for Clomid but told me to wait to take it and scheduled me for an HSG.  When I went to the front desk, the receptionist was going over the information with me including when to take the Clomid.  I told her the doctor told me to wait to take this.  At this point the doctor heard us talking and came up front and told me to go ahead and take it because within the approximatley one minute since I left the room from him he had changed his mind and felt I either was not ovulating or was ovulating too late.. Well, duh!  Since when we were in the room I told you I believed I was Oing to late with like a 9/10 LP.. But whatever, Great, lets get this ball rolling, right?  I go in for my HSG and the dye went through a little slower on the left side.. Doc said it cleaned out the "debris" and everything else looked fine.. He told me to get my husbands semen analysis done and then we would go from there.. I felt kind of uneasy because the way he was talking it didnt seem like he remembered that I was taking clomid this cycle..  We had the SA done and a week later the nurse called with both of our results.. HSG was fine and SA came back with slightly low motility and sperm count..  She gave me a urologist to contact.. I reminded her that I had also had my progesterone tests done and she said she would call back with those results.. A few days later she calls back and says your progesterone levels are really good.. She didnt give me a number or tell me what next?!?  Of course, I was caught off guard when she called because It was in the middle of my work day and I am one of those people that has to plan out my questions so I couldnt think what to ask at the time but I felt like she should have given me more to go on than just your levels are great..  What now???  He gave me a 3 month supply of Clomid.. I imagine I continue those if I am not pregnant this month.. But do I need to keep going in to get my levels checked...  AND  my levels were only checked while I was being medicated..  What if I do become pregnant???  Does that one round of clomid keep my progesterone levels to where they need to be or should I be checking to make sure they dont dip to low and cause a miscarraige????  Im confused!

DH and I were TTC before we should have been. Well not trying but not preventing. I went off BCP about 5 years ago. We just got married a year ago last June.  A few months after we got married I got a referral to our RE. He did all the tests on me and then he did DH's SA. It came back low so he adv DH to get another SA , blood work and referred him to a Urologist. We went to a Urologist and the Urologist was an a$$ so now DH refuses to go to another one. My DH was diagnosed with a varicocele. There is a surgery to correct it, but DH wont do the surgery :(. Are you able to go to another RE that you feel more comfortable with. You'll probably be seeing alot of your RE so I would try and find one you feel comfortable with. I never thought at 25 I would ever be at the doctors this much. Thank you for wishing us luck I'm starting to feel more confident about this whole TTC thing. I think it's a good idea that you didn't tell DH over the phone. I made the mistake of telling mine over te phone when he was at work and he sounded like he was going to cry. Hopefully soon you have more answers and a game plan. Good luck :)

Yes it is frustrating that I am not being monitored more often.  I read on here that most doctors do all kinds of things to monitor while you are on clomid but all I have had was a day 21 prog. level test.

Good luck with your IUI next month.  How long have you been TTC?

My DH has not schedule is appt yet.. He is actually out of town fishing with his dad and the doctor called me while he was gone.. I was going to wait until he gets back before I tell him because I know he will be bummed! And then he will call to schedule his appt.

Thank for you comments and good luck wishes to you as well!

I am actually seeing my GYN right now.. He told me he would start me off and if what he was doing didnt help and I need something more invasive then he would send me to an RE..  My charts from OPKs did show that I was ovulating too late and I told my doctor this during my time with him at my appointment but it was like he wasnt listening to me and then when I was checking out he came up and was like "I think your are ovulating to late so go ahead and start the clomid".. I was just thinking "Didnt I just tell you that I thought I was ovulating too late because of my temps and OPK results!"

I am mainly concerned that I didnt get my progesterone levels checked before I started Clomid because now we have no idea if it was high enough before being medicated.  But you said they will recheck it once, or if, i get a BFP this month so that eases my mind a little more!  I get to test next week.. Thanks for your answer!

It doesn't sound like it went too well. I would be concerned with taking Clomid and not being monitered. From what I read on here it can thin your uterus lining. My DH also has a low count and low motility also he has low morphology. Were starting our first IUI next month. Did you schedule DH with a Urologist? I know it's frustrating when you get caught off guard when they call and tell you things. I swear almost everytime I have a RE I call back the next day with a question. It seems kinda weird that he wanted you to start Clomid before he did all the testing. I hate how doctors just pass out pills sometimes. Hopefully you'll get more answers once DH goes to see a Urologist. I hope the Clomid works and you get a big fat BFP soon. Good luck- I hope things get better with your RE.

Wow sounds like you need to see a new RE. I am sorry you had to experience all of that, but i never think its good for the doc to just pass you a prescription and not check anything else. Also clomid isn't going to help you if your hubby his sperm are the issue.  I would also have your husband test more than once. My husbands sperm came back the same way the first time and then we tested 2 or 3 more times and they all came back great. Turns out he had a little infection and thats what was causing the low motility and sperm count. If you are having ovulation problems clomid is good but like you said you should be using OPK's to see or make sure that you are ovulating and have a blood test to confirm you ovulated. I would get a second opinion or sit down with the doc and make him answer your questions. If you do become pregnant you will be checked again and if they think your hormones are low they will address that. Good luck to you:) I hope you get preggo this month
