Thanx a ton! Will try to get the kit soon.
Yes, you can buy ovulation kits at most stores that sell pregnancy test, and they're over the counter. Basically what you do is pee on a stick every day, usually starting on day 10 of your cycle. Then, once you get a test line that is as dark or darker than the control line, you've detected your LH surge, which peaks right before ovulation. Normally, you will ovulate within 48 hours of detecting the surge (but most women ovulate the day after). So basically, as soon as you get the LH surge, it's time to get busy. Hope that helps :-)
Hi
Thanx on the info on ovulation kits. I am infact trying to get pregnant, I am having a male factor fertility problem but my hubby still ants to ry the natural way, he's on some meds so its essential that we track my ovulation dates. Are these ovulation kits available over the counter, somehow even after all the advice I gotten, no one has ever told me about ovulation kits...........any more infor will be appreaciated!!
It's simple, if you are not wanting to get pregnant USE protection, everyone is different filling in a calander really dosent mean anything. You can ovulate at different times of the month, sometime you can ovulate 2 times, there is also a thing called luneal ovulation, its all very scientific but there is exception to all the rules.
Well, you would need a prescription for birth control. Most are pills you take every day, with active pills for three weeks, then placebo pills for seven days while you bleed. Although, some only give you the active pills, and if so, you would take a seven-day break when you finish the pills before starting a new set.
Any reason why you are looking for something over the counter?
...oh, and BBT (basal body temperature) charting can be a little tricky when trying to avoid pregnancy, since it will only tell you when you ovulated after the fact. OPKs (ovulation kits) gives you a 24-48 notice before ovulation, but even that can be too late, since sperm can live for 2-3 days inside your reproductive tract.
So unless you guys use condoms, I would think the easiest thing would be to use birth control pills.
Take care!
:-)
is there any birth control pills that i can buy over the counter without prescription? how to take it, is it daily or until when to stop?
Hi!!
Wots an ovulation test exactly? How does one take it? Is it differen from measuring ur basal body temp?
If you are not trying to get pregnant I would take ovulation tests just to be sure but that is me.
Oh, OK! Well, if you know how long your luteal phase is, then that does help quite a bit...just keep in mind that sometimes ovulation happens a bit earlier or later than normal, and if so, you could be fertile when the calendar says you're not. Take care!
i am not trying to get pregnant as of now...in the ovulation calendar, there is this info that i need to fill-up like my first day of my last period, length of menstrual cycle in a month, and lutheal phase...i filled this up based on what happened to my cycle just this month and it shows that i am not fertile this whole week..
I wouldn't trust those ovulation calendars...since they're based on a "normal" schedule with ovulation 14 days before your next expected period. It really varies a lot from person to person when they ovulate - even if they have the exact same length cycles. Are you trying to get pregnant or trying not to? And how long are your cycles and what cycle day are you today?
well yes if this is the day you ovulate, doesnt mean for deffinate your get pregnant but you'l have very high chances then any other time of the month,
