IUI today - Question about swimmers

My husband got "nervous" and he feel like he wasn't able to collect a decent amount.  I saw what they looked like in the vial before they did IUI, and it was maybe 1/2 tsp (but that was after they washed them and were ready to put in me.).

They told me that there were 14.5 million and that they like to have 5 million. So I'm hoping the count is good.  They also said that 70% of them were moving.  Is that good?

Also, I'm really irriated with DH because this weekend and monday he went golfing and drank a lot, smoked a lot, etc.  How bad of an impact do you think that is on his swimmers today?

Men!! Very annoying!

Hi, 14.5 sounds sooo good....GOODLUCK
When we did 5 IUIs... our numbers ranging from 9 to 5 millions only with a 50-20% of motility, didn't work..yours really good...hope you'll get your BFP...

I don't know the effect of smoking and drinking on it though, so dont worry try to relax and GOODLUCK again..

a long time ago, i did a research about the semen to see if drinking effects the sperm count and what i read was that it didnt. now if its healthy, thats a different question. i have no idea. smoking cigarettes wont effect it. so what type of procdure are you having done? are you gonna ttc naturally or the doctor will help?

Silly question but why is an IUI performed? I was wondering if I could request to have that done?  Seems like it gives you a great chance at concieving.
MEN!!! Since we have been ttc, I don't drink, no caffine, no diet soda (i love coffee and soda) no sushi, I've been trying not to color my hair....none of this has helped though, but at least I'm trying

Me too!  I've given up everything.  I miss my coffee sooo much. I LOVE COFFEE!!! (I admit to having about a cup today)

We're just trying to take an agreesive approach at TTC vs TTC on our own.  This month I potentially got 4 follicles...so that's better than 1 right?  It should increase your odds.

Then with the IUI, it just gives a higher concentration of sperm, so many that would have died on their way up, get up there with  the ones that normally make it.  I read that sperm (naturally w/out any help) generally are about 400 in the fallopian tubes after their travels and by the time the egg is released.  I know that seems low, but that's what i read (on the internet).  But anyways, we're just doing this for a more agressive approach since my issue is probably just egg quality more than anything else.

Yes, I hope and pray that it works!

Thanks for your input.  It's nice to know what everyone else is doing so you can at least see if you can gauge your chance.

DH's smoking a cigarette really irrates me. I found him smoking on the patio this morning playing with the dogs and I gave him the stink eye!  He even made us late this AM.

I just want to roll my eyes at him because DH thinks he's contributing and doing soooo much.   He said it take a lot of effort to make "his little soldiers." Whatever!!

Anyways, I was worried because like I said earlier, he didn't collect that much!
