Low Pregesterone

My doctor said I have low pregesterone. She gave me natural Pregesterone to start taking from day 14-26. What I wanted to know is if we are not using birth control and I want to get pregnant while doing this should I do a pregnancy test on day 26 before I stop taking pregesterone? I have an increase in testosterone can that be caused by the low pregesterone? Also my blood sugar is 104 is that really that bad and can the hormone imbalance cause that?

Thanks in advance for all information. I really just want to have a baby.

PCOS causes the low progesterone and it sounds like thats what you have. As for the progesterone suppliment may MD prescibes it CD17-menstration or cont. in prego. However you don't want to start the progesterone until you have already ovulated so if you don't O until CD20 or so then don't start it until then. If your going to be using the vaginal suppositories just a warning some people get a residue left over inside you like clumped up toliet paper. I actually have to scoop it out of me everyday, also you get kinda swollen in there while on the prog. so sex may be on the holt.

Hello! I agree with alaskacouple.. it should be used for 14 days, since typically AF happens 14 days after ovulation.. yes i would defintely take a pregnancy test before stopping it... i'm on fertility treatments and take a home preg test 14 days after the IUI if negative i stop the progesterone, if positive i go in for blood work and they see if they need to increase the progesterone.. but otherwise even with a good number once preg i have to stay on it until week 10 or 12 to help sustain the pregnancy.. a blood sugar of 104 is normal, so i wouldn't worry at all about that!   as far as testosterone causing lower progesterone not sure about that, but do know that low progesterone is SUPER common! and such an easy fix! GOOD LUCK! : )

I know with ivf... progesterone is prescribed and administered until the beta (blood) pregnancy test. And, if the test is positive, usually progesterone is taken until about the 12th week (sometimes longer) of pregnancy.

Progesterone is needed to help support the uterine lining and keep it intact.

Your dr. only gave enough for 12 days? Normal pregnancy tests are done 14 days after ovulation....so I would have thought you would be given at least 14 days worth.

I would confirm with your dr. the "what ifs"......
What if I do get preggo...how much longer is prog. needed
What if I ovulate on day 14, shouldn't the meds be for 14 days minimum?

Hope this is all helpful..... GOOD LUCK!!
