Prenatal Vitamins

I'm currently preparing my body for pregnancy and getting everything in line (Eating better, being more active, vitamin etc.). My fiancé and myself are trying but not over thinking it(when it happens, it'll happen type mind set). So Question: along with my prenatal vitamin should I be taking a folic acid supplement for a higher dosage? I've read so many things about how important it is.

Hello,
Folic acid is necessary when cells are growing and dividing very quickly. During pregnancy as your uterus expands, the placenta develops, your body circulates more blood, and the fetus grows. Folic acid is important for a healthy pregnancy. Folic acid decreases the risk of some birth defects. It lowers the risk of birth defects such as neural tube defects, heart and limb defects, urinary tract anomalies, narrowing of the lower stomach valve, and oral facial clefts like cleft lip and cleft palate. Take foods like fortified grains, corn, oranges, spinach which are rich in folic acid. Does the prenatal vitamin you have been taking contain folic acid? It is best to consult a doctor before taking folic acid supplement. Hope it helped. Keep me posted.
Best wishes and regards!
