Help!? Progesterone Supp. ???

So I was able to get a script in time to start my clomid 50mg along with the metformin (1700mg) I've been taking. :)
I also got a script for progesterone supp. but I've never used them so I have a few questions.  I was told that once I get a positive OPK then 3 days later in the evening to start inserting them vaginally and then start doing it twice a day after that.  Do you have to lay flat for a while after you insert them? How long does it take for them to dissolve (they are the gel tabs) Also is it ok to have intercourse while using the tabs after you've pasted your peak for ovulation or shouldnt you? Also do you insert it like a tampon? Do you put it in as far as it goes? just in the vagina?  I was told to keep taking them twice a day and then after 2 weeks of taking them to check a preg. test and if it's neg. I stop taking them right? until the next cycle of ovulation?

Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. Especially those that do this metformin, clomid, progesterone supp. regmine. this is all new to me as far as using them together. i've used clomid alone before.

thanks ladies!

Not sure why your Dr is waiting so long after you ovulated to do a blood test to confirm it. Anywho... if you know by OPK that you ovulated on CD14 on CD17 start taking prometrium on CD31 take HPT and if it is neg stop taking the prometrium.

The progesterone will delay your period (while giving your pregnancy symptoms), so you are going to have to rely on either a hpt or blood work for a positive/negative.  I would call your doctor with your findings from the hpt, and let them tell you when to stop if you are not doing bloodwork.  Better safe then sorry!
I used the pills also.  (the gel tabs).  I just got up at normal time, put 1 in and off to work.  I never had any problem using the toilet, or with it "falling out" per say.  They start melting pretty much immediately, and your body will obsorb it quickly.   I would usually put the second one in before I went to bed.

It sounds like they are just trying to keep your progesterone levels up, so you don't m/c.  They would check that by bloodwork.

Good Luck poppy!!

ok so stop taking them when its 14days from the first pill if neg. or if AF shows up before that right? lol!

did you see it affect your bbt at all?

i normally get up at 5am to get ready for work, so if I get up at like 4am and put it in it should be dissolved in an hour or should i  get up earlier?

I guess i'm paranoid that if i put it in when i'm on the toilet that it will fall out btwn the time i standup and then go lay down...is that not an issue?

they didn't say anything about refridgerating them because they are really oral progesterone (gel tabs) that they prescribe bc the reg. supp. are way more expensive i guess.

I have had an ectopic in the past so i need to call them right away anyways but should i be expecting any thing different then just having to have a lab draw?  They just said i'd have to be "watched" more carefully but didn't tell me what they have to do? does that mean earlier ultrasounds, before week 7-8?

I just put the progesterone gel in while sitting on the toliet. You could do it anyway, sitting, standing, laying... and yes,   You push it up as far a possible.  I am not sure how long it takes to disolve, but if you insert 1 in the am and 1 in the pm you should be fine.  My RE said intercourse was fine.   Yes, you take them until you take your pregnancy test, then if positive - continue, if negative- discontinue.

Good Luck!!!  Baby Dust!

I've taken the clomid and progesterone supp. before but never all three.    Oh how I hated those progesterone supps. lol.    I don't know if they mentioned it but you should keep the progesterone in the fridge to keep them from getting too soft.

I found it was easier to insert them as far as you can vaginally standing up but lay down right after you do this.  It doesn't take long for them to start to melt.  I stayed laying down for a while so it doesn't start to leak out immediately but found I still had to wear a panty liner to keep it from making a mess especially during the day.   Some come with a device to help insert them but most people just use their finger and insert it like a tampon but as far as you can get it.   My RE told me we could still have intercourse.  They did say it was probably best since the supps are pretty messy to have intercourse before inserting the progesterone for that evening.

The progesterone made my cycles a little longer but that is correct.  Take them for 2 weeks, do a pregnancy test and if it is neg to stop taking them and a few days later you should get AF if it is positive to call them right away but keep taking the supps twice a day.   If neg I would stop taking them until I ovulated again and wait 3 days later until starting them up again.

After the second month of being on them it did make me have a few pregnancy symptoms so it gave me lots of false hopes of a BFP.
