Missed Period for 4 months

Hi, I need advice, Please. I have had no period for 4 months now (no spotting, Nothing). I have had pregnancy test recently, Both urine and blood and both are negative. I have seen my doc 3 times on this subject and she tells me 'wait for a period, sometimes this just happens'. Is that true? I have had swollen, sore breasts and headaches. I feel there is something wrong with me. How can this 'just happen'? Can someone offer some advice or something? It's depressing and stressful. Also, If i'm absent in menstruation, am i still fertile? help...

Thanks everyone for all your advice, It's been 5 mnths and i finally got my period. Apparently I had a short term 'Amenorrheah' due to stopping the pill too suddenly. Q: what if I wanted to fall pregnant and had to go off the pill (obviously), would this happen again? Apparently with some cases with having drug induced amenorreah, you would have to wait for up to 10 mnths (recommended) for a natural period before they consider starting a drug induced period. :/ Anyway, thanks again for the advice and  I only wish I could have known about this kind of thing earlier. "They" should educate women of this and more, earlier, i believe. Klo

I agree with mooney608. It is not healthy to go very long without a period. Ask your doctor (or a new one if you plan to switch because i certainly would) about provera to start. Its a pill you take for 10 days and get your af.

Hi there, I've been dealing with that on and off for years. After trying to get pregnant on my own, and having no luck, for 10 months I had to seek help. It was very difficult to calculate when I would ovulate, as the number of cycle days varied. Text book theory would probably say that you didn't ovulate, since you didn't shed your lining thus having a period. Eventually you should see a period, if not I would talk to your doctor about inducing it with a progesterone. And it doesn't mean you are infertile, it just means that you didn't ovulate. Good luck!
