Ovulating but Amennorhea?

Ovulating but Amennorhea?

I haven't had a period in SEVEN YEARS.  was on the pill for 17 years. Stopped about 6 months ago.

went to see a reproductive specialist.  She did a vaginal ultrasound. She said everything, including my uterine lining, looked normal.  she said it looked like I ovulated, I have eggs, etc. She expected it would be too thick or too thin after not having had a period for so long, but it looked normal.  They did blood tests, which said I did ovulate.  And, she said she expected I'd get my period within a week.

So what happened?

Same thing that happened the last 4 months- 2 days of cramps.. and NOTHING.  Just a little white, milky discharge.

Anyone have any idea what is wrong with me?  Help?

They did a progestin challenge test 2 months ago which I failed.

Now, I'm going to have to do that, again.

And, when/if that fails, I'll have to do a ESTrogen then progestin.

I am SO frustrated.  34, running out of fertility time!

Anyone have any ideas?  Help pleas

The progestin challenge is supposed to determine if you are producing enough estrogen in the first half of your cycle to release an egg.  Very low estrogen levels could mean you are not producing eggs (not ovulating), but that doesn't seem your case.  If you fail the progestin challenge, it means you did not produce enough estrogen, thus the next step is the estrogen followed by progestin regime.

I'm suprised the dr did not put you on the estrogen/progestin after you failed the first progestin challenge.  I just completed my progestin challenge (now waiting for the period), but if I fail, my dr will put me on the estrogen/progestin.

Don't worry though, you still have time.  Stressing could keep your period from coming.  I am now 40, been ttc for 2 years with 2 miscarriages.  After the first miscarriage, I did not have a period for over 4 months -- dr. said is was due to stress.

Thanks...  yeah, that is what I thought, too... but she said she didn't see any evidence of that.

Also, had a CT scan recently for intense abdominal pain, all they found was fluid in my abdomen and they think the pain was from a leaking ovarian cyst, but no mention of blood anywhere in my body it shouldn' be (sigh)

That sounds strange.  I know I heard of something where the menstrual fluid could actually be exiting to other places in your body but that still seems like you would have some bleeding.  I think it's called reverse menstruation.  I think the blood goes back through your fallopian tubes and into your abdominal cavity or whatever.   I'm not sure if it is part of Endometriosis or not but I'm just grasping at straws trying to give you things to google.

Good luck!
