Ovulation

Can u ovulate literally 1 day before u start ur period?  I had egg white stretchy personal lubrication the day before I started.

Hmmmm... I'm not questioning your doctor, but I have a feeling  what he or she means is that you can ovulate anytime in your cycle, but your period would then come about 2 weeks after that. It is impossible to only have a 1-day luteal phase (the second part of your cycle). The egg needs time to get fertilized, then travel down the fallopian tube and attach in your uterus before your lining sheds (you start your period). Otherwise it would be impossible to get pregnant. Plus, when you ovulate, your progesterone rises, and when progesterone rises, you will not get your period until it goes back down about 2 weeks later (give or take a few days). Hope that makes sense. :-)

I actually talked to my dr today and she said u can ovulate any time between periods.

No...but sometimes, you get what looks like fertile cervical mucus in the the two weeks between ovulation and your period. Ovulation happens between 12 and 16 days before your period (on average 14 days before).
