PICSI vs ICSI

has any one have experience with PICSI?
If the sperm is not mature or weak......, after ICSI procedure, what happen to the embryos?
Will it stop divide after fertilize or become abnormal?
Any advice?

Have you had any experience with PICSI, the use of hyaluronic acid for sperm selection?

Thank you.

We use ICSI in our pracice.  After the ICSI the embryos are looked at after about 16-18 hours because there is a window of fertilization.  At this time they are evaluated for their status.  You will either see degenerative (the embryo has died), 0PN = no fertilization, 1 PN (fertilization but not normal) 2PN (exactly what we want to see -- 1 PN from the egg, one from the sperm), >2PN which is again abnormal fertilization.  The 2PN's will be separated out and the others are usually discarded.

The 2PN stands for 2 pro-nuclei.  Most embryos will divide, even if they are abnormal, so it is important to separate out the abnormal fertilizations because they are abnormal and would not produce a pregnancy.  And after about 20 hours you will not be able to tell the difference between the embryos.
