Pregnancy after myomectomy

My sister has just had a myomectomy (removal of fibroids) and is desperate to have a baby.  Her consultant has told her to wait for 12 months before trying to conceive but her own GP said he thought 3 months would be OK.  Has anyone had this experience?  She has been trying for 5 years and doesn't want to wait another 12 months but we are trying to convince her that her consultant probably knows best.

Many thanks

I had my procedure on 12/08/08, and my doctor said three months.  The reason for this is that tumors can sometimes grow back so the sooner you get pregnant the better.

I had the same procedure in March 2006.  Three months is the norm.

I heard the average time to wait after a fibroid removal is 3 months.  I would suggest your sister gets a second opinion.
