Questions about monitoring so far...

Hi,
Just wanted to update with the progress..As I had a plan to just monitor my cycle with out any meds ( I havent used any so far), I am seeing some promising results.
Had very good day 3 FSH which was little on and off for the past 3 cycles. it was like 15.1(April), 8.1(may) and 5.4 this cycle.
Went in for day 10 u/s and they found a follicle of 17mm one right ovary. couple of very little ones on the left.
Waiting for Day 10 blood work results.
My problem is with repetitive miscarriages. I want to monitor to see if I am producing good eggs or not. But my RE wants me to be on meds from next cycle. My question is do I really need clomid if I am getting good size follicles on my own?
I am afraid what side affects those meds can cause and at the same time I dont want to have another miscarriage.. please help!

Heather, Thank you very much for the reply. Yes I think it is better to wait till next cycle too.. I never had problem conceiving. My issue is with holding that pregnancy.. I am not sure of clomid or femera would help in the after process.. have to see it..but I think slow and steady wins the race..instead of hurrying..
how are things from your end?

If you already have a 17 mm follicle (or probably 19 by today), then you're already getting close to ovulation, so I don't think meds would be an option this cycle. But if I were you, I would try it next month. Clomid (and also femara) is just a pill that you take from day 3-7 or 5-9 (depending on your doctor). They're low cost and non-invasive when you compare them to other meds like injectibles...so I would give it a try!

The only think I can think of that could still work for this month is an HCG trigger. That's basically a one-time shot you can take when your follicle is fully mature to start the ovulation process.

Good luck!

Yeah my RE also told me the same exact thing .. taking meds helps in getting more mature eggs .. so among it atleast one will get me pregnant.
But my nurse called me yesterday afternoon with the results and told me that the follicle is 17mm and estrogen is 335. She said that is really a good count and also told me that my RE asked me to plan for this cycle as well with out meds.
I am confused as to what to do now? should I jst wait take meds next cycle and ttry or just listen to waht my RE says and go ahead with this month.
My nurse told me twice that this is good month to plan ..
these many options make me confused.. I am going back agian tomorrw for blood work and u/d day 12. To exactly pin point the ovulation time..
can you suggest me what can be the better way?please help!

Glad to hear that your RE says the meds may help w/miscarriages.  I tried to research this myself but never found anything significant, and my RE never really said this.

I don't think my progesterone low (it wasn't last I tested) but that sounds promising!  Maybe we'll both get lucky with the meds.  I've had 3 m/c so hoping for some luck this time.

My RE was actually saying that clomid or femara could help with a miscarriage IF your progesterone levels after O are on the low side. He thinks my second miscarriage was due to low progesterone, and said clomid/femara will help increase my chances by producing stronger eggs and a stronger ovulation...and therefore also higher progesterone levels. Oh, and I did four unmedicated IUI cycles over a year ago, and I also always had a nice mature follicle before ovulation. This time around, the follicles are about the same size, but my progesterone levels at 7 dpo much higher (41.4 on my first femara cycle).

But I also agree with rene67, the fact that it can help you produce more than one egg is also a plus...maybe the second (or third) egg is of higher quality and has a better chance of "sticking"!

Best of luck to you!

My problem is also recurrent miscarriages.  This is my first med cycle, I used Femara and am now 10 dpo.  I don't really need the meds either, but my RE has me on them to increase my chances of getting pregnant this cycle.

Have heard Clomid has more side effects, but Femara not so much.  However neither one will help with miscarriages, nor cause one.  Your chances are basically the same as without meds, except that meds may help you produce 2 eggs.  So maybe at least one will work out.
