Like the others said, progesterone is standard protocol in IVF cycles...as a matter of fact, the cycle would most probably fail without it! In a normal cycle, the follicle that releases the egg will produce progesterone after ovulation and up until about 10 weeks, when the placenta takes over; but in IVF, the eggs and follicles are removed, so your body's not able to produce enough progesterone by itself. This is why a supplement, like the shots you're taking, is crucial in IVF cycles. Hope that helps :-)
Not to worry-I started my progesterone (2ML/day) injections the day of egg retreival and took them for the first 2 months of pregnancy. If your body doesn't produce enough progesterone then you will miscarry. The baby starts to make its own progesterone around 9-10 weeks so if you are pregnant you will probably be on it until that time. Best of luck to you!
Yes its standard. I am also injecting myself 1 ML of Progesterone. I think that its suppose to help the embryo. Just follow the instructions that the doctor gives you, trust me they know what they are doing.
