Semen?

I'm trying for a baby and wa wondering what colour is semen meant to be. I've seen loads of examples on the internet of it being bright white like cream. Mine is normally a slightly cloudy see through thickish liquid with bright white streaks in it. There's usually quite a bit of the white streaks as a percentage. I usually get about 5ml and when left out it liquifies fairly quickly and goes completely clear. I'm concerned about the colour because I've read so many things describing semen as creamy white, mine is in parts a bright creamy white but other parts of it are a cloudy clearish colour. I've also noticed if I add a few drips of water to it it all turns bright pearly white even the bits that were see throughish before.

Was wondering if my semen sounds normal?

Thanks for your help we'll give it a few months before we consider test doctors here will only test you if you've been trying a while without success and the home tests are too expensive.

Yes it will be viscous coming out of the penis.  Then it liquifies -- it comes out thick to keep it in the vagina to maximize chances of conception.  Normal ejaculate liquifies within 1 hour - so that all sounds good.

I would just get a semen analysis, most insurance covers it as a normal diagnostic test.

Mine comes out kind of thickish then is liquified I'd say in maybe half an hour or less the white bits seem to gradually go transparent til they're no longer visible.

So what is viscosity looked it up and read something about time to liquification mine seems to do that fairly quickly. Basically does anything sound wrong? I know you can't say 100% without tests.

Well yes, a normal semen analysis the color is creamy white to greyish cloudy.  If it is clear in some areas and whitish that could be from viscosity.  We usually vortex the samples before we process them to counteract that separation.  Without actually looking at your count the color alone is no indication that something is wrong.  I would ask your doc to write you a script to have a semen analysis done if you are worried.

Also, adding water to the sample will kill all the sperm -- that may be whats causing the change in color, but water is deadly to sperm.  GL!

Well I am not a doctor so I can't promise you any good info, however I can tell ya that its a good idea to see a urologist and ask. I'm sure every guy is different and there is no "right" or "wrong" color but it never hurts to get it checked out. Good luck to ya.
