Absteining for maximum fertility (male)

Hi

Ive been TTC with my partner now for 12 months. Im 34 shes 41.

In that time weve only had one positive, which turned out to be a chemical pregnancy.

My sperm tests came back fine as did hers.. and we time sex carefully around ovulation.

But im not sure how long before ovulation i should abstein? Or if its best to BD more than once a day during the
fertile window?.

Does anyone know how long it takes to replenish sperm? Ive read absteining too long can be bad, but that sex more than once a day can prevent sperm from replenishing.

Thanks.

If your partner is 41 and you have been trying for a year, you REALLY need to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist.  Over 40, fertility drops rapidly, so sooner is better.
Good luck!

the say around 36hrs to replenish. but can differ. you should bd 4/5 days before ovulation and the day after.

Hi,

given your age and that your sperm are normal I would think that BD once a day, or at worst once every two days would be fine.

My doctor actually told me to have sex as frequently as we want (but at least daily) during the 'fertile' period.

Best wishes and hope you can be successful soon.
