TTC for 8 months

Hello ladies,

I have been reading this Forum and everyone comments about using Clomid when trying to conceive. I must say now i dont feel like im the only one. I feel relieved as i keep reading.

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for the past 8 months with no luck. I have been using the OPK test strips and had intercourse when i was ovulating. Still nothing.  I did some research on Clomid, I know I am not supposed to take it because i already ovulate and my period is regular. My friend was using it and got pregnant after the first cycle. So (I know this is bad) I asked her to give me some. I took my first pill today, and I decided to do the CD 3-7 at 50 mg per day. Does anyone know what happens if someone takes Clomid even though they ovulate regularly? I really didnt want to wait for a year.

Thanks for your advice.
when you said adverse effects means not becoming fertile?
I definitely dont need that.  I had no idea it can do that.

Now im nervouse about it. Today was the 3rd day taking the pill. I might just stop tomorrow. I think 3 pills are enough. Can i do that? just like discontinue taking the pills and not doing the full 5-day cycle of clomid?   :(

Be CAREFUL!!!  Clomid is NOT something to mess around with!!  You definitely need to see your doctor about it.  I was on and off of it for seven years with no luck getting pregnant.  But then again I wasn't ovulating on my own, either.  Then, come to find out, when I finally saw my current RE, he told me that clomid can be VERY dangerous to take if you take it for too long in a row or if your'e not closely monitored.  He told me that it can actually have ADVERSE affects on your attempts at getting pregnant in that case.  Also, most doctors don't consider you "infertile" until you have been trying for at least a year to conceive.  Don't worry or rush or stress.  But most importantly, be careful with the clomid!!!  You don't want to actually do damage to your body!

Thanks for your input ladies.

Yea i dont know , i mean i already started the clomid cycle. Today was day 2. I must say i had difficulty in breathing last night im guessing its the side effects of Clomid.

Your right 8 months isnt that long, but my husband and I are both inpatient. So i decided to take it on my own. I Just really want to get pregnant I had no idea that it would take me this long to get pregnant. Starting to think he might be infertile since i get regular periods and i do ovulate. Im not sure. He will schedule for a sperm analysis soon.
I am taking clomid to get pregnant with one. Im not asking for me :) , If i do get blessed with more then one , then I would be the happiest girl alive :o)

just be careful cause clomid can cause you to overstimulate (OHSS) your ovaries due to already ovulate on your own and are usually monitored by a ob/gyn by ultasound to make sure this doesn't happen as it can be dangerous but also it does increase your chances of multiples due to mutiple follicles forming, good luck on the ttc but 8 months isn't that long compared to years .
