TTC number 2

Hi all,

DH and I have been trying to conceive baby number 2 for 11 months. We conceived our son on the very first cycle after coming off the pill, but have been having no luck whasoever this time. My son was delivered by c-section. I come from a family of incredibly fertile women, fertility problems are unheard of, I told my mom that we were trying for another baby yesterday, omitting the fact that we have been trying for almost a year and she told me to make sure it's what we want because it will happen soon. (She thinks were about to start trying) it's very frustrating, My periods are now somewhere between a 28-35 day cycle, i have used my ovulation calculator and have determind that in a 28 day cycle i would ovulate on Feb 27 and a 35 day cycle would finish ovulating on March 11, so to be sure, my husband and I have been having sex every other day from 27 Feb untill the 11 March. We don't wanna miss it. I tried the ovulation sticks with with a cyclle the alternates between 7 days it wasn't really working out, I have seen digital ones from Clear blue...does anyone have any experience with these?
Any advice would be truly appreciated. Good luck to everyone!!

Melissa

Melissa - i think i saw the fertility monitor at CVS - Do you have any drugstore chains in the Middle East? Also - you may be able to order it online as well. I think First Response might make one.

Kris,

Thanks for your reply. I haven't yet been to see my Dr as they prefer to wait 12 months and my husband isn't wild about the idea. He thinks that if we conceived without problems the first time there is no reason why we should suddenly be infertile. I have looked everywhere for the digital fertility monitor but have yet to find it, I saw it a few months back somewhere but can't for the life of my remember where. I live in the middle east so things are not as readily available here as they are in the states or the UK. I have used the clear blue ovulation kits but since my periods are so out of whack I couldn't get a reading on ovulation, i tested every other day or so for 7 days and came up with nothing. When I conceived my son, i ovulated 8 days from the start of my period so it was a little earlier than I had calculated but he was a very welcome suprise. My period is due on the 16 March with a 28 day cycle and the 23 March in a 35 day cycle, were having sex regularly during this time so if AF doesn't appear by the 24th I will take an HPT.  I will keep you updated if I manage to find the fertility monitor, you're absolutely right they cost a msall fortune!! Good luck to you and please keep me posted on your progress?

Take care xx

melissa - I am in the same boat as you. I conceived my son in the 3rd of month trying and honestly, the first 2 months, i had no idea about my cycle so i think we were missing the right time. The 3rd month i used the digital opk and bingo - pregnant. When my son turned 1, we started trying for #2. He is now 2 1/2 and STILL not pregnant. i too come from a long line of fertility. Mom had 4 kids, sister has 3, other sister has 2 less than a year apart.  I have gotten every test under the sun because after 1 yr of trying, i said there has to be something wrong here. Blood tests came out fine. My husband was tested and sperm is fine. I did 2 HSG's (dye test to determine if tubes are open), laproscopic surgery (because at one point my doc thought i MIGHT have endometriosis). The only thing found during surgery was some adhesions from my c section which he fixed. 4 mos after surgery - still not pregnant. Went to see an RE (reproductive endo) in Dec. Did my first cycle of clomid and IUI last cycle. IT did not work. We were going to do it again this month but the clomid created a small ovarian cyst so i couldn't start stimulation meds so we're trying naturally this month. I am doing acupuncture to help but who knows. I am perplexed and frustrated and i totally know what you're going through. All my friends have had their 2nd baby already or are pregnant now and i was trying long before they were. The only thing the dr can tell me is that my age may be hindering things - I'm 38. Have you seen your dr yet to get some testing done? Definitely use the digital clearblue OPK. it's so easy. I have a pretty regular 27 cycle and usually i get a smiley face on either day 11 or 12 but I think this cycle may be messed up due to the clomid last cycle as I'm on day 9 and I'm seeing no CM at all. Usually, I start to see CM now. If you get the fertility monitor - let me now what you think. I saw it in the store one day when buying my OPK but it was nearly $200 . I should have bought it as i've spent thousands on the opk's i've been using every month for almost 2 years! Anyway - best of luck to you.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. I am off now to find the elusive digital fertility monitor as opposed to the digital test as I am clueless as to my exact days of ovulation and hopefully the montor will be able to figure it all out for me. It has some great reviews so I thought I should give it a go.

Good luck in ttc this month. I sincerely wish you all the best!

Keep us posted on your progress?
