5 days post embryo transfer cramping, Scared to death!

I'm scared to death. I'm stressing myself out too. Usually when my period comes I feel cramping right after the first bathroom break as soon as I wake up. Its not bad cramping, just enough to make me freak out. My blood test isn't until next monday the 14th of June. I was upbeat about everything until I felt this and then I read that day 3 transfer are less likely to work which is what my doctor did.

My first IVF cycle due to timing issues with husband (he works out of town) and pcos

I'm sorry you're experiencing this.  I was told crampings are normal, unless intensive. The same is about spotting. It's ok unless it's bright red. Anyway our bodies react differently to the procedures. Some do not have any symptoms at all - I believe it's even more terrifying. Could you call your nurse to find out more? The clinic I've been with has 24/7 support line. So I could call any time I got worried. Praying for you, honey.

Guess we both need to hang in there and be patient huh. Its tuff, but I really can't believe how fast this week has gone by. It's already Thursday! I am glad that you find your puppy is good therapy. I have a goldendoodle. He is 3 yrs old. Perhaps I should get out and do nightly walks with him, anything to keep this time going by. I am also trying to book next week up with plans, again so time goes by fast! Good for you for having the willpower to not taken an HPT. I too have it in my head that I am not going to take one. I do often wonder when I can take one, to get a true result, but I feel like I can wait until June 18th.

thanks for the kind words! congrats on your pregnancy! its more than cramping. its the "blah" feeling i get when i know af is on the way. the bloating, some pain at the top part of my legs, back ache and cravings. but if this doesnt work i have learned alot from this ivf cycle. it was my first and now i will demand they wait til day 5 transfer. if there is none to transfer than at least i wont have false hope.

I know its hard to stay hopeful but keep busy to try to keep your mind off things. and its ok to cry. I did it the other night. And since my husband works out of town alot it gets extremely lonely but if it wasnt for his job we wouldnt have insurance to pay for ivf. i cross my fingers for your beta. i will also pray for you. your not alone in this battle. it angers me too when i see a someone pregnant. one of my coworkers just found out she is pregnant and to hear her talk about it kills me. one of the things that helps is that i have a lab puppy that keeps me busy! but she is there when it hurts and gets lonely. pets are good therapy.

my husband made me promise i wouldnt take a hpt. so i cant take one even though its tempting.

I only had 4 eggs from my cycle. They transferred the best 2, for a week I kept thinking that the other 2 were my back up plan, just incase this transfer didn't work. But that was ripped away from me yesterday when I got the phone call. I keep thinking it is what it is and trying to keep my chin up and not worry too much about it. I did cry a lot yesterday. Its just frustrating seeing a PG woman everytime I turn my head. I am far too in tune with my body these days too, which probably isnt the greatest thing either. This Saturday, 1 week post transfer my clinic is going to do an ultrasound to check the uterine lining to ensure it is thick enough to support a pregnancy, they also do blood work to check the progesterone levels. I week after that, June 18th, is my blood test. It can't come soon enough! Good luck with your blood test on Monday, have you done or do you plan on doing your own HPT?

Hi,
I had a 5d blastocyte transfer, they were 2 frozen embryos and I had mild cramping since day 2 or 3, then it became a bit more noticeble but never severe. I had spotting from day 5 to day 7, very mild and dark. I am now 6 wk pregnant, single baby, and for now it all looks good. Do not worry just take it easy, try to rest as much as you can and stay hydrated. I think this is normal and diferent for everyone.

I know what you mean about feeling let down about having none to freeze. But I keep thinking they transferred the best 2. when do you take your beta? Im 7dp3dt

Hang in there!! I think everyone has different types of cramping and some not at all. From everything I read anyway. I am on 4dp3dt. I have some mild cramps. I had 2 embryo's transferred one was an 9 cell grade 2, and the other was an 8 cell grade 2. We had two others that were 6 cell grade 2's but did not make it to the blast stage for freezing. I just received this phone call today, so I am a little discouraged.

They never told me the Grade. I was going to call but than changed my mind because i don't want to hear any more bad news. After being told their are none to freeze and now getting pms symptoms i cant handle any more.

It's just like a report card grade, so A is the best.  Do you at least know how many cells they were?  And what about the assisted hatching?  For a day 3 transfer, your chances are improved with a higher grade, 8 cells, and assisted hatching.  Although apparently there has been success for some women with lower grades, fewer cells, and no assisted hatching.

Thanks for your reply. The clinic never told me the grades, and since this is my 1st IVF I'm new to this and don't even know what that means. I know that is sad. We transfered 2 embryos with none to freeze (I found this out after I posted) and if I wasn't worried enough now its intensified though I know that doesn't make things easier. Congrats on your pregnancy!!

As far as I understand it, day 3 transfers in and of themselves are not less likely to work.  I had a day 3 and am 4 weeks 5 days pregnant.  Did your RE do assisted hatching?  How many embryos did you transfer and what were their grades?  Regarding cramps, I didn't have any, but I've never had them with my period, either.  However, my body has been behaving generally different than normal since about 1-2 days prior to my retrieval - due to all the meds, I'm sure.

There is no "normal" when it comes to pregancy symptoms. you are sitting at 8dpo... so it could be implantation, it might not. Most pregnancy symptoms don't even arrive until after AF would be due.

the hardest thing to remember is that the ONLY thing you can do is look after yourself, so do that, give yourself a good talking to about remaining calm. Sounds weird, but it works for me!  you won't be able to stop thinking about it, but you can stop yourself from working yourself up into a "state".
